The Offer
- For awhile Capital One has been allowing cardholders (that have a Capital One branded card) to upgrade to their Quicksilver credit card, this card has no annual fee, no foreign transaction fee, an EMV chip and earns at 1.5% cash back. That’s not exceptional, considering the other cards that earn 2%+ cash back. But the best benefit of this card is that you also get an additional 20% statement credit on all Uber rides until April 2016, meaning you basically get a discount of 21.5% on all Uber rides. If you have a Capital One card and want to upgrade, you can call 1‑877‑513‑9959. Almost everybody should be able to upgrade at this stage.
Our Verdict
If you have a Capital One card and use Uber at all, you’d be silly not to upgrade. The Quicksilver usually only has a $100 sign up bonus and Capital One pulls all three credit bureaus, so it’s doubtful you’d want to apply for this card directly anyway. Even if you wanted to do this in the future, it’d be possible as Capital One cards can be churned.
