How To Use Amazon Dash Wand To Purchase Alexa Only Deals

Amazon now offers something called the Amazon Dash Wand (costs $20 but you can get a $20 credit for purchasing it. Shows as out of stock but you should still be able to go on a waitlist). This lets you scan items to add them to your cart, you can also add items with your voice. It’s basically Alexa without the music capability. You can also order add on items without needing to meet the minimum threshold.

One thing we weren’t sure on is if you could use the Dash Wand for Alexa Only deals or not. Thankfully readers Alex & 007 were able to work out that it does work on these deals and this is what you need to do:

  1. Find an item that has an Alexa deal (list of them here, also our affiliate link)
  2. Make sure it says ‘Only with Alexa’. Items that don’t say this are open to everybody and Alexa is not required (these other deals need to be added manually to clip the coupons to get the discounted rate)
  3. Order with voice prompt shown in listing and it will give the same Alexa price. For example for this item you’d say “Alexa, order Vitamin D”

There has been a few good Alexa only deals in the past as well on giftcards. Prime Day is coming up and I suspect Amazon will be pushing Alexa only deals for that so getting one of these Wands (especially when you get the $20 credit making it basically free) might be a good move. You do need to be a prime member to be able to use it as well.

Thanks again to readers Alex & 007 for the instructions

Just to be aware, one of the reviewers complains that his $20 credit was only good towards Amazon Fresh and was not a general Amazon credit.

Not the case with me. Credit works on anything Shipped and Sold by Amazon.com

this is also good for ordering add-on items without having to add anything on.

Wait … so you can order add-on items using this without needing to reach the threshold? Is it just with this device or with Alexa as well?

You can order add on items, without reaching the threshold, on any Alexa device.
