[Back in Stock] Free Amazon Dash Wand after $20 Shopping Credit (Can Be Used For Alexa Only Deals)

The Offer

Direct Link (affiliate links contained in this post. Thanks for supporting the site.)

  • Buy an Amazon Dash Wand for $20 and get a $20 credit toward your first shopping
  • Also, get free 90-day trial of AmazonFresh with the purchase (standard fee is $14.99 per month)

The Dash Wand is an Alexa-like device which is especially made to easily add things to your Amazon cart. Aside from using voice to add something to your cart, you can use Dash Wand to simply scan the barcode of an item and add to cart. They gear Dash Wand toward Amazon Fresh users who are buying their groceries on Amazon, but it works for almost any item on Amazon as well.

Dash Wand enables you to get Alexa-only deals and it also works to bypass the $25 minimum needed for free shipping on Amazon.

Note: You need to be a Prime member to use Dash Wand. If you don’t have Prime, signup for a free 30-day trial here or free 6-month student trial here.

The Fine Print

  • Register Dash Wand and the $20 credit will appear in your shopping cart the next time you check out.
  • Promotional credit expires at 11:59 p.m. (PT) June 18, 2018 (next year).
  • Promotional credit only applies to products sold by or Amazon Digital Services LLC (look for “sold by” or “sold by Amazon Digital Services LLC” on the product detail page). Products sold by third-party sellers or other Amazon entities will not qualify for this offer, even if “fulfilled by” or “Prime Eligible”.
  • Promotional credit does not apply to digital content.
  • Shipping charges and taxes may apply to the full value of discounted and free promotional items.
  • Unless an Amazon Gift Card is the stated benefit of the promotion, promotional codes (including those placed directly in accounts) may not be redeemed for Amazon Gift Cards.

Our Verdict

It’s essentially free after the $20 credit. The $20 credit should work for any item sold by Amazon themselves, not specifically AmazonFresh items, which makes it easy to use up. I don’t use AmazonFresh, but it would be neat to be able to add other kinds of items to my Amazon cart, like detergent or deodorant, by scanning a bar code, and have it saved in my Amazon cart for when I get around to it. You’ll also be getting a quasi-Alexa device basically free! Dash Wand can also be used to purchase add on items without having to add $25 in items.

I’m a bit unsure about what Dash Wand does not do that Alexa does, but I assume it won’t be able to do things like play music and stuff like that. Give us more info in the comments if you know.

  1. Your guess about what Dash Wand does not do that typical Alexa devices do is correct. From the product page, “Dash Wand does not support playing music.”

  2. Lantean says:

why not… it will help with the Alexa only special offers.

  3. Jim says:

I kind of can’t believe that Amazon is like yeah, we’ll generate this ridiculous e-waste so that someone can just push a button. Since, you know, pressing two buttons on one of your 5 other devices is just too dang hard.

  4. Josh says:

Looks like this also uses the Amazon Cash promo, so essentially $10 for $10 extra in Amazon Promotional Credit, and you extend the expiration date to next year.

  5. Dave says:

I did a free trial of Amazon Fresh last year and then cancelled after the trial expired. If I buy the wand, will it give me another 90 days? The promo page doesn’t address this.

  6. captainsave says:

    Prime member only.

  7. Jay says:

Haven’t tried Amazon Fresh, but with them acquiring Whole Foods it could be worth it!

  8. Troy says:

Select no rush shipping and you can receive the $5 dollar pantry credit as well if you use it. So if you do use pantry they pay you $5 dollars to buy this.

  9. Rudi Pittman says:

The dash wand will not do music (the speaker is barely voice quality capable), reminders or timers. Somewhat stupid in a “kitchen appliance”. It will tell me a recipe, walk me through making the recipe but I can’t set a 3 minute egg timer. It does work with home automation and for alexa deals. For “free” it’s quite useful. Tie it in with the “Add $20 to Amazon Cash to get $10 credit” deal and it’s a money maker.

  10. Sooch says:

Is it possible to get a second wand for free, or is it one per account?

  11. jason gingerich says:

ive got a Wand in my cart about to check out, but there’s nothing at all indicating the $20 credit to be applied for future purchases; only this link with some terms on it which would then hopefully apply to my purchase.

does it show confirmation of the credit anywhere before purchase?

    • Linda says:

I have the same question. Looks like it doesn’t give you the credit until you have the device in hand and register it, but the lack of any acknowledgment of the deal when you buy gives me pause.

    • Dave says:

No mention of it for me when ordering either. But the device arrived today,
and I registered it, then the promo showed up when buying things.

      • Linda says:

Thanks for the info, Dave. I too just placed my first Dash Wand order and received promo credit, but…

I actually didn’t receive the full $20, because I finalized the order before I meant to, and it was only one item for $4. It doesn’t look like I’m going get the other $16, since I put in another order right away and didn’t get any additional credit. Now I’m annoyed because I basically blew money on this thing.

So beware, other Dash Wand buyers, when Alexa yells an item at you and asks if you want to purchase it, she’s not asking if you want it added to the cart. She’s asking if it’s OK to ship it out immediately.

        • Linda says:

OK, correction: after talking with Amazon customer support, I did get the whole $20. The balance will be applied the next time I order items sold by Amazon specifically (I always forget that stipulation).

  12. Denise says:

You left off the best part! Lets you buy add-on items without meeting the $25 threshold.

  13. Sam says:

Anyone know how to activate this without a phone?? I got one, but can’t activate it! (Same with all the silly Dash buttons I got!!)
