[VA] Northwest Federal Credit Union Now Rewards Credit Card Review: 30,000 Point Bonus

Northwest Federal Credit Union offers the Now Rewards credit card. Let’s take a look at this card in a bit more detail:

Card Basics

  • Sign up bonus of 30,000 points (worth $300) when you open your account and spend $3,000 between October 1st and December 31st, 2018
  • Card earns 1.25x points per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • No annual fee

Our Verdict

Card isn’t worth using outside of the sign up bonus as the earn rate of 1.25x is not competitive at all (better options can be found here). The sign up bonus isn’t that bad and it’s one of the better cash sign up bonuses available. I imagine most people interested in this would do it at the same time as the $300 checking bonus we’ve previously discussed here.

denied for number of new accounts opened in the last 12-24 months, number of credit inquires, excessive obligations in relation to income. utilization is less than 3%. about 800 score. probably 14/24. a few accounts in the last 6 months. pulled equifax and then experian. did not reconcile yet.

Important to note that, according to the terms (https://www.nwfcu.org/NOWREWARDS), the $3,000 in spend must be by 12/31/18, regardless of when the account is opened. You do say that up above, but it didn’t sink in on my first read.
