A number of places are offering freebies/specials for Veterans day. Also don’t forget to take advantage of the Military Lending Act and  Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA). After your Mon. free meal –
Only one location but you’ll probably get a lovely meal.

Great Clips is offer a free haircut or coupon for later if you already got a fresh fade.

Sport Clips is also offering a free cut too.

https://www.meineke.com/ – Offers a free oil change on Veterans Day at participating locations. You can see if your desired location offers it. If it does the coupon will show on their front page. I have never tried this, but heard they “sell out” quick so you had better get there early.

Car washes – many participating full service type car washes, but it’s case by case if your local place is participating. The website to search is either overloaded, or broken. http://graceforvets.org/veterans I have used Carl’s Wash many years now and bring a towel to wipe up the water spots after I leave the premises.

Free workouts – https://www.planetfitness.com/veteransday

Food Lion is offering 10% discount too, Active or Retired, is what I read on the weekly flier. I don’t imagine cashiers would turn down a vet with VA ID, but I could be wrong. Probably the same or similar restrictions as Publix.

Per USAtoday, Staples: 25% off discount Sunday through Nov. 16 for active-duty personnel, reservists, retired or disabled veterans and their immediate families. This one seems a little too good to be true and I don’t have a local Staples. I would call to verify before drooling too much on this one.

Target: Through Monday, all military personnel, veterans and their families get a 10% discount on one purchase in store and online. To get verified and learn more, go to Target.com/military.

Glad to see some more fast food options, at least on DoC’s list that I was not aware of. Sit-down restaurants tend to have lines around the building if you live in a military town like me. A real sit-down meal is nice, but saving $10 on lunch isn’t worth an hour+ wait to be seated, and if you bring other people, they selfishly want to eat too. (joking) And of course I feel obligated to tip very well if the meal is free. Just an observation, I am grateful not to need to stand in long line and hope that Vets that truly need the food can take my seat.

Few Vet offers are dinner options – most are lunch.

Old Country Buffet is supposedly all day Monday, but I couldn’t find a direct link.

The thing about Staples is that even 25% off is not a great deal for most of their stuff.

Gadget 🕵️

Starbucks – For the three other vets out there that don’t drink coffee, they will give you a plain hot chocolate instead. (Ref: This guy.) I share it with my munchkin.

Got an email from Ruby Tuesday: “one free burger or sandwich up to $14 in menu value…11/11/2019 for veterans, active duty, and reserve service members with presented valid military ID.”

Gadget 🕵️

Chuck E. Cheese – FREE PERSONAL PIZZA (1-TOPPING) For active duty, national guard, retired and veterans with valid Military ID or proof of military service.

I’ve heard Sheets gas stations with carwash machines offer free car wash on Veterans day to service members but I haven’t verified it.

I live near a VA hospital and it’s actually hard to find any of these places that will honor these offers. I was just in Krogers and they announced over their PA that veterans could come to the Starbucks kiosk for a free coffee, but when I got there they said they weren’t participating!

Thank you to all those who serve or have served.

And to those people, make sure you don’t let us DOC readers down and take advantage of as many of these deals as you possibly can!

When I lived in FL, I’d go to 7 or 8 of these on veterans day at least and take to go bags after eating a few bites and leaving a tip. Sadly, where I live now has very few options.

Gadget 🕵️

Thank you for the support! And, LOL. I listed my main ones I tried on another post. I am lucky to leave in a big suburb and have lots of options. I hit a couple other small ones for the donuts at DD & Krispy Kreme, skipped the coffee, and did Little Caesars which will be my lunch tomorrow, but I am not going to loot the whole town. Part of me says it’s awesome to feel appreciated, and also a little like a scavenger hunt. But the other part of me says it feels like panhandling, and really, I don’t need a handout. Driving all over town just to get freebies isn’t my idea of fun, so I plan the shortest route to my main ones I want and stick with it.

Might go back out later for a small grocery run at Food Lion for the 10% discount. That’s enough for me. And the few dinner options are usually packed and it ruins the experience for the family, so we will just stay home. Someone else that needs the food can take my spot.

I used to go with my elderly neighbor who was a vet which made it fun. Not so fun going alone, so I don’t bother to go looking much anymore.

Gadget 🕵️

I take my daughter. We make a couple hour outing of it.

Negative DP – No go on Subway at my nearest location in VA. YMMV
Positive DP: Chili’s & DQ. Added bonus, Carl’s Wash & Great Clips.
Very surprised there was no wait at my Chili’s, but I also went early at 1050AM.

Negative DP – No go at Subway in Modesto, CA. So annoyed.
