Walgreens: Purchase 2 * $25 Uber & Get $5 Giftcard + Stack With Uber Local Deal

The Offer

  • Walgreen is offering a $5 Walgreens gift card when you purchase any two $25 Uber gift cards or $50 Bass Pro Shops gift cards.

Our Verdict

You can also get an additional 10% back at Walgreens via Uber Local offers. Note that the Uber Local offers is still only available in highly selected areas. Basically turns this into 20% discount on Uber credit.

My local Walgreens (Los Angeles) does not sell Uber gift cards, and there was no reference to any deal in the 8-page flyer. Indeed the Walgreens website makes no mention of Uber cards or of this deal.

The really great Uber driver in my neighborhood works hard to be accommodating. I have not utilized his driving service, but I follow him on FB and see the service requests and his responses.

How would a Uber GC affect his bottom line? I don’t want to ask him if I can get the answer here. He’s a vet and works another job, too. I would want to see him make what he is worth.

TIA. 🙂

its comical how nobody reads the comments. goes to show why reddit daily threads are as such. how many times do we need to say you WILL NOT see the local offer options unless you are in targeted locations… SMH…

…. because it was not initially specified that there were targeted locations. Even the Uber page is short on details.

I have wasted a lot of time with Uber Help on this Local promo. If William could update this post with a YMMV plus an SOL plus a sad emoji, that would save others from a similar fate.

No biggie. You are still the source of most of my income this year. Just feel bad for the Uber Help people fielding a million enquiries, although Uber’s own literature could have been more helpful.

This offer is NOT related to any credit card offers, this is a WAG offer anyone can avail of. You can go to the WAG website to check the weekly ad, it’s on page 19 on the upper R hand corner. Here’s some pointers to do this successfully:
1. You need a Balance Rewards card to avail of this offer. If you don’t have one, ask cashier for one, it’s free. You’ll have to give your name, addy, phone number to register and to get this BRC.
2. Go and grab two of the required items PLUS one of the WAG gc with snowflakes design to load $5 on it. Make sure you grab the right WAG gc, some have a minimum of $10 to load, those won’t work.
3. When you check out, have cashier scan your BRC followed by the two cards and then give the WAG gc and tell cashier to load it with $5.
4. When your total comes up, only the two cards would’ve been charged, the WAG gc should be 0.00 if you did it right. If the WAG gc is charged, check to make sure the BRC has been scanned to take off $5 from your total. Make sure you followed the terms of the offer to receive the free WAG gc.
5. Pay with your CC/DC of choice and you’ll see a main receipt PLUS 3 small pieces of paper to show card activation.

btw, I should clarify, the above instructions refers to the WAG offer which includes several cards, not just UBER. Stacking with the UBER offer may be YMMV.

I can’t find any local offer or rewards section as the help file suggests. I tried on two accounts that both have different visas on them.

I also tried restarting app and adding a new visa card to see if it triggered, but nothing.

FYI to everyone saying they dont see the local deals options. its because its LOCATION SPECIFIC.

yea, that sucks. when I am in SFO, its awesome. when i go LAX. nothing. that option is removed based on GPS. so dumb. why cant they just gray it out. WTF right? for those who love GPS hacks, you can pretend your in SFO to check out the choices, but I dont know if Uber will ban people who ghost like that. their Big Data Business Intelligence analytics is pretty sophisticated.

I don’t see Rewards/Local Offers either. I have Sapphire Reserve as payment method in Uber.

I’m having the same problem Dean and have the Elan Fidelity Visa Signature and the Marriott Business visa Signature. I’ve tried it on Android and Iphone (on Sprint service if that matters).

Any ideas?
