• Offer not available to existing checking customers or to those with an Albemarle Bank & Trust or West Town Bank checking account that has been closed within the last 6 months
• Bonus offer available to new consumer checking customers and requires at least one (1) recurring direct deposit per month
• Your direct deposit needs to be an electronic deposit of your paycheck, pension or government benefits (such as social security) from your employer or the government
• Direct deposit must begin within 60 days of opening account
• $250 bonus will be deposited into your account within 60 days of first direct deposit
• Account must remain open for 180 days or $250 will be deducted from closing balance
• Bank reserves the right to limit each customer to one new account related bonus per calendar year

There is no monthly fee on this account, although it does need to be kept open for 180 days otherwise they will charge $250 to close the account.

Our Verdict

This seems like a good bonus if you can confirm it’s a soft pull to open, you should be able to use any tax refund you receive to trigger the direct deposit requirement and hopefully other work arounds would do the trick as well. I doubt you’ll be able to fund the account with a credit card due to the in branch opening requirement but who knows.
