Win 10,000 Barclaycard Miles + Reminder About The Barclaycard Travel Community

What Is The Barclaycard Travel Community

The Barclaycard Travel Community is similar to Trip Advisor, you can write reviews on specific attractions or even cities. The difference is that you earn participation miles for each review (up to 200 miles per review). If you have one of the  Barclaycard Arrival cards then these participation mile can be transferred to those miles at a rate of 1:1, if you don’t then your card redeem your participation miles for Amazon gift cards (2,500 miles for $5 gift card). You can read more about the travel community here.

10,000 Mile Competition

The Barclaycard Travel Community is currently running a competition where you could win  10,000 participation miles. The competition is a bit complicated, so let’s break it down:

  • You have until April 29th to either write a new story, or submit an existing story about “Affordable Adventures”
  • On May 4th, the community managers will select the ten best stories and these will be eligible for voting
  • Each member is then allowed to vote one for the travel story which they think is the best
  • The story with the most votes at 4:00 pm (ET) on May 29, 2015 will be the winner and will receive 10,000 participation miles

You can also submit your story here: http://www.barclaycardtravel.com/t5/Blog/Affordable-Adventures-Your-Travel-Story-Could-Win-You-10-000/ba-p/1836258 but this is not entirely necessary. Just make sure your story is tagged as an affordable adventure and you’ll be eligible.

The qualify of stories on the Barclaycard Travel Community is quite low for the most part, so if you submitted a detail story with lots of quality pictures I imagine you’d be a pretty good chance of getting into the top ten. If any readers do make the top ten, I’ll make sure to include it here so other readers can vote for them. The full contest rules can be found here.

Final Thoughts

Using the travel community really only makes sense if you have an Arrival card, otherwise the time invested simply isn’t worth it. That being said, it’s an easy way to earn some miles quickly when you have some downtime. I did a test recently and I was able to earn 2,100 miles in around an hour, which would be worth a maximum of ~$23 which is not a bad hourly rate.
