[YMMV] Amazon: Receive A Credit For Up To 75% Of A Kindle Edition eBook

Update 5/3/20: Deal is back (direct link – contains our affiliate). Hat tip to reader Mike

The Offer

  • Amazon is running a promotion called ‘Great On Kindle’ for some eBooks titles. Individual accounts are receiving a credit for up to 75% of the book’s cost. For example ‘Becoming’ by Michelle Obama is $14.99 and some users are being offered an $11.24 credit. Some people are seeing a lower credit amount of 25% or 50%.

The Fine Print

  • ???

Our Verdict

Interestingly the credit can be used to trigger another credit. It seems that a full list of great on Kindle books can be found here. I love my Kindle, sadly I’m only targeted for a 25% credit.

Amazon has another Kindle eBooks offer – Get $5 back in eBook credit when you spend $20 on eBooks. Valid from May 21 – May 28. T&C says that this is an invitation only offer.

Not sure why it says deal is back. Great on Kindle has always been available for me although the discount has gone down from about 75% initially (which was awesome) to 10% now. Unless some folks never got it before…

I rolled this over several times, bought 5 books for about 40% total of the retail prices.

I’m seeing 10% only- this is what I get for all the money I spent on Prime day? 😀

Mine was 10%. No previous Kindle purchases (although I did get some classics for free a few years ago).

My credit was 50% when I first discovered this program but it had gone down to 15% when I checked it today. I wonder if the discount is gradually taken away the longer it’s been since your most recent Kindle purchase.

When I first bought my Kindle last Christmas I was consistently getting 75% credit for great on Kindle. Now I am seeing 10%. It may have to do with timing of your device purchase?

When browsing the Kindle Store yesterday morning, I saw a “Great On Kindle” promo banner advertising a deal I availed myself of: 100% off the $1.99 non-fiction “Great On Kindle” ebook I was eyeing (via two credits I didn’t know I had: one each for 75% and for 25%), plus a $.20 credit toward a future “Great On Kindle” ebook purchase.
