• American Express is offering some existing Business Gold cardholders a spending bonus. Spending must be completed by 12/31/2018 and you must enroll by 10/31/2018
  • Spend $1,250,000 and receive 250,000 Membership Rewards points
  • Spend $225,000 and receive 100,000 Membership Rewards points
  • Spend $50,000 and receive 25,000 Membership Rewards points
  • Spend $15,000 and receive 10,000 Membership rewards points

The Fine Print

• Enroll by October 31st, 2018
• Spend by December 31st, 2018

Our Verdict

The amount of points per dollar spent increases as the spend required decreases. For example the offer that requires $1,250,000 in spend is only an extra 0.2 points per $1 spent. Whereas the $15,000 offer is an extra 0.667 points per dollar spent. Keep in mind this is in addition to the points you’d normally earn:

• 3X points on one category of your choice from the list below:
  • Airfare purchased directly from airlines
  • U.S. purchases for advertising in select media
  • U.S. purchases at gas stations
  • U.S. purchases for shipping
  • U.S. computer hardware, software, and cloud computing purchases made directly from select providers
• 2X points on the 4 remaining categories
• 1X points on other purchases

I don’t think any of these bonuses are particularly interesting but might be useful to some businesses already spending big in one of the 3x point categories.
