Our Verdict

This is obviously better than the public 80,000. Again I’d advise caution using this link but people can do their own risk assessment on this one. We likely won’t add this to the best credit card bonus page due to the risk involved.

I live in a state without a Citibank branch but was able to find a banker that helped me apply for the 100K offer via the phone instead of using the circulating 100K link that may have some risk associated with it. I had to call a few branches but was eventually able to find a banker to help, despite some initial concern that phone applications would only work if I lived in a state with a branch.

The representative sent along a Docusign link for me to sign on my computer, confirmed my income and other information, and submitted the application for me. The Docusign link provided a document showing the 100K offer and I was approved instantly. I am an existing Citi checking and savings customer, which according to a commenter below might be required to apply like this.

Tony ,
I called CS and they told me that I can buy anything including gift cards. She noted my account.
I called a Best Buy store and they don’t sell Visa GC anymore. However, they do sell Best Buy and Amazon GCs.

I was able to get 100k SUB link emailed to me. The link says,”Use the link to apply anytime in the next ten (10) days.” I asked the banker if he knew when the elevated SUB would end and he said August 31,2025 not the July 31 that is being floated around.

Yes also for me, so my husband just applied/immed approved using the DoC stealth link & we have a new screenshot with his name @ 100k, too. Didn’t want to chance missing out on 40k TYP between us!

Instantly denied at 5/24, 2/6, 7 inquiries on Experian but only ~3% total utilization. Current Strata Premier cardholder. Couldn’t get preapproved for the AAdvantage card so figured it would go this way. Recon said to wait for the letter so no easy fix for me.

This happened to me when applying for the AAdvantage Executive recently… the “letter” that recon told you about is likely really a 4506-T Form. It asks you to provide a copy of your taxes to show your income- if you do it you very well may get approved. I decided not to go through with it, but that might have been the wrong decision- I don’t really know what the downsides are of filling it out and providing the info? Anyone have thoughts on this? Apparently Citi has been doing this more often of late.

Interesting, I haven’t had an issuer ask to verify income before but that’s plausible with my numbers. I was thinking the total utilization was a dealbreaker as that’s what people were saying in the AAdvantage Platinum post. I’ll definitely send over my forms if that’s what it takes, but will also try HUCA in a couple days once the letter is printed to see if that’s really the case.

LMAO nope, denied for “Length of time accounts have been established on your credit report” x2, “Too many recently opened accounts”, and 756 FICO being too low. Submitted for recon and got a text that I’m denied within an hour. Citi just wants nothing to do with me.
