Gift cards at kroger are not from Metabank. How are you guys cashing these out?
I have a different pair of offers at Bakers Supermarkets (Kroger owned)

I also have these offers. One specific account gets targeted a lot of these kind of coupons, so i didn’t bring it up. In my experience, lots of these don’t apply to most people (they also tend to disappear, so check right before buying to make sure they are still there)
I have this offer on two of my accounts. If you click this link, make sure you’re signed in. If you’re not signed in or are signed in and get a “Opps, that coupon can’t be found,” you’re not targeted. I can pull it up when signed in under my account, otherwise I get that error.

Where are you seeing this offer, Mikey?
hoping this is coming for Harris Teeter also…
I loaded the offer to my account and plan to buy lowest amount eligible gift card on Kohl’s Lowe’s happy and 500 virable Visa to get 800 point on 6/3 since it says 200 point for each. We shall see. Plan to use my blue prefer Amex for 6 percent grocery store kickbacks.
Someone said 1 giftcard purchase with Amex card of just $500 at any store will ruin the chance of bonus offer or have points removed after they are posted after meeting spend req because it is mentioned in the card terms.
This means it is a PIA to meet $4k spend in 3 months.
looks like amex knows otherwise they wouldn’t say purchase of giftcards or any transactions that looks like cash advances such as rent won’t qualify to earn bonus points offer for meeting spend req. they call you right away in most casewhen they see any gift card purchase or just deny the bonus. the horror stories you can read online says the same thing.
It’s not just AMEX denying or clawing back miles or points. The hacking issues make VISA/MC gift card purchases in general very risky now. I’ve said this enough in other posts. But if you go this route as a means of MS (and accept the potential AMEX negative consequences) you are still susceptible to the hassles of funds drained from the card itself. You first must examine all packaging carefully for tampering. Keep in mind the hackers may have glued it back perfectly after inserting their personal barcode on the card inside. And then when the tab is pulled at the register give that barcode on the card inside a good scratch before paying. That scratch may save you weeks of anguish later when you’re trying to get your money back.
Jim, do you have any links you’re willing to share to people who said they didn’t get the Amex signup bonus after buying VGC at a grocery store? I’ve never heard of that, personally, but rather I’ve only heard of Amex signup bonuses being denied for buying from Simon Malls or GiftCardMall.
Amex told me my spendings from cvs (one $500vgc) and samsclub spendings (combination of gc and organic spendings) didn’t qualify for the spending requirement. Fortunately i still had the time so i prepaid all my insurance premiums and the bonus posted a couple of days after that.
What’s the overlap between offers at Kroger and HT? The apps appear to be different.
