Any way to get Samsung Pay on a non-Samsung device at this point? Would I be able to just buy an old(er) unlocked Samsung phone/tablet and switch my SIM when I need to use Samsung Pay? Seems like they have quite a few nice offers as of late.

AFAIK, you do not even need to worry about the SIM-swap. An old Galaxy (S6 or later, I think?) can do Samsung Pay just using WiFi to get the account set up, and then occasionally connecting to a network to sync. You should not need to be connected to a network just to make a payment at a vendor. I do not know the details, just trying to relay what I have read elsewhere.

I’ve had no luck using samsung pay on a Galaxy S6. I think they might have removed support for the S6. I ended up getting an S7 which was not too much more expensive and works fine there.

I bought a Samsung S6 on swappa for around $75 last month and was able to get Samsung Pay working on it. You do not need service, just to connect to wifi every few payments (I do after every payment). Works fine for Chase Pay/Freedom.

Note it’s a crapshoot – if the phone has been rooted then Samsung Pay won’t work. No way to know really until you buy it and it comes. Can always send it back to the seller if it doesn’t work but I don’t think too many Samsung devices are rooted because that disables it.
