[Targeted] Amex Offers: $15 Off $35 at Walmart.com [Targeted]

The Offer

There is a targeted offer showing up in some Amex logins.

  • Spend $35 or more with a registered Amex card and receive a $15 statement credit.

There is no Twitter hashtag for this, and many are not seeing this offer at all.

The Fine Print

  • Valid until 12/31/15
  • Purchase can be in one transaction or split between multiple transactions
  • Valid online only
  • Excludes corporate gift card purchases and Gift Card Reloads
  • Excludes Walmart Contacts, Walmart Checks, Walmart Photo Services, Walmart Stationary, Babybox, Walmart’s Grocery Pickup/Delivery service, Walmart MoneyCenter, Insurance services, Walmart.Moneygram. Excludes Sam’s, Neighborhood Market, Walmart To Go, Vudu, Marketside. Excludes orders placed online and shipped but paid for in-store.

Our Verdict

These Walmart offers come every once in a while and are usually targeted. It’s a free money deal; even if you don’t want to shop on walmart.com,  you can buy a Walmart physical gift card or e-gift card online and use them in-store. Or sell them to an exchange for ~90% of their value and net over $12 per card. Alternatively, you can buy a Visa gift card online or another third-party gift card online.

I originally had issues with this as I received an error but just purchased a $35 gift card and was successful.

I am a little worried because I didn’t receive an email notification from AMEX stating I have utilized one of their offers. We shall wait and see…..

Chuck my $15 credit posted today so it took about two days and I did not receive an AMEX notification like I usually do stating I used an AMEX offer.

Cheers

I ordered a $35 physical gift card yesterday morning and received a shipping confirmation last night. Last time they had a deal like this I bought lots of physical gift cards and had no trouble at all.

i believe the cancellations were due to a glitch. I ordered many $35 gift cards. No problems. orders all shipped. But i had some issues initially…they tried forcing me to do $15 rush shipping.

What worked for me in the past to get around the order cancellations was sending an email to Walmart CS. Believe it or not they responded within 30 minutes (on a Sunday) and told me to try again in 30 minutes, giving them time to review my account. After that I didn’t have any trouble buying e-gcs.

Btw, I was using e-gcs to buy larger denomination e-gcs. I pointed out in my email that their own gift card T&Cs refers to this as the proper method to consolidate multiple cards.

Update: Called in and was told that if you have a new(ish) account, they auto-decline GC orders because of the high probability of fraud. They “unlocked” the transaction, and an hour later I was able to successfully complete the order.

Placed an order for a $50 Mastercard. Got this not too long after:

“Thanks for shopping with Walmart.com. Unfortunately, we’ve had to cancel your order because we were unable to verify some or all of your payment information. Please ensure your billing information on Walmart.com is current and accurate, and matches the billing information on file with your financial institution.”

Don’t they have a contract with Amex regarding this offer? They had to agree to the terms right? So if you buy something that is not excluded in the terms and Walmart decides after the fact you can’t have that with an Amex card, isn’t Walmart violating their own terms with Amex?

I’ve participated in over 100 Amex sync offers and from my own experience Walmart and Sam’s Club are the only ones who have pulled this kind of crap repeatedly.

That being said 0/20 on our cards so I’m not affected, ironically, but not happy you guys are going through this……again.
