The Offer
- Receive 60,000 Chase UR points when you apply for a Chase Ink Plus card and spend $5,000 or more within the first three months.
The Fine Print
- Annual fee of $95 is not waived this year. Update: If you go in branch you should be able to get this annual fee waived. This currently seems to vary from branch to branch. But it’s well worth a try to save $95, it also might be worth trying again in a few days if this does not work as I assume it’s being rolled out to all branches.
- Valid until March 1st, 2015
- Earns at the following rates:
- Earn 5X points per $1 on the first $50,000 spent annually at office supply stores and on cellular phone, landline, internet and cable TV services (first $25,000 for the cash card)
- Earn 2X points per $1 on the first $50,000 spent annually at gas stations and for hotel accommodations when purchased directly with the hotel (first $25,00 for the cash card)
- Annual fee of $95 is waived for the first year (no annual fee on the cash card)
Chase UR Points
Chase UR points are worth 1¢ each when redeeming for cash or statement credit. You can also transfer these points to Chase travel partners. If you also hold the Chase Freedom, having this card will also allow you to transfer points earned from the Freedom as well (the Chase Sapphire Preferred also gives this bonus).
Our Verdict
Update: If you go in branch you should be able to get this annual fee waived. This currently seems to vary from branch to branch. But it’s well worth a try to save $95, it also might be worth trying again in a few days if this does not work as I assume it’s being rolled out to all branches.
This bonus was 70,000 points last year, but usually 60,000 points is the highest this bonus goes. What’s interesting about this offer is that usually when the bonus is 60,000 points the annual fee is usually waived as well (although when it was 70,000 points it was not waived).
You should also keep in mind that this is a business credit card and not a personal card, you can use your SSN to apply but Chase has been cracking down on non legitimate businesses recently. Personally I’m going to sit this one out, I’ll wait for either a 70,000 point offer without the annual fee waived or a 60,000 point offer with the annual fee waived.
I already have the Chase Ink Bold though, if I didn’t I might be more tempted to take this offer. I mostly use this card for purchases at office supply stores when they are running gift card promotions.
What are your thoughts on this offer? Will you sign up?
Hat tip to silentax from Flyertalk via View From The Wing for letting me know it was available in branch
