Our Verdict
The standard sign up bonus on this card is 40,000 points, so this is a nice increase of 20,000 points (they also sometimes have a 50k point + $50 offer, which I think is much better value). That being said, this offer comes around semi regularly. The main reason people are interested in this card is that it’s extremely easy to churn (get the sign up bonus repeatedly). The main reason people used to be interested in this card is that it was possible to churn it repeatedly, this offer includes language which means you can only get the sign up bonus once every 18 months which makes it far less attractive an option.
Personally I don’t get a lot of value out of Hilton HHonors points, so I’m giving this card and bonus a miss but it could be useful for some who are wanting to pad their Hilton account out with some more points. I’ve added this bonus to our dedicated page on hotel credit cards.
The terms say within last 18 months, not have opened or closed this same product. I already have two Citi Hilton cards that I opened over 3 years ago and are still open. So, technically, I am ok to apply and GET this bonus, right?
I don’t think that’s how it works, but I could be wrong.
Thought flyertalk said this link has the warning about only every 18 months, which their 50k link on flyertalk doesn’t. So may not be able to churn with the 60k link??
I don’t see the 18 month terms in the fine print at all, am I missing something?
Scratch that, see it now.
Can’t churn no more. Fine print says no bonus if you had it within last 18 months.
Thanks, Jack. Dunno how I missed that considering I specifically looked for it. Updated the post.
Thanks for the tip. The churnability, no annual fee, and Citi’s readiness to approve applications makes this actually a reasonably nice card. 60,000 pts won’t go particularly far for aspirational-type stays, but if, eg, you need a room for a few nights travelling to a wedding or something this could easily save $300, which is pretty solid.
Just how churnable is this card? I’ve read conflicting reports. Maybe this is better explained in an email/newsletter, but I’m curious to know how quickly I can restack this bonus.
This offer contains the 18 month language, so not very churnable at all.
What’s the success rate of getting the offer matched? I just applied for a 50k offer, now this one comes out.
Same here, just got the 40k last week.
Citi rarely matches offers, but it’s worth a try I guess.
I currently have 2 of these. Can I get a third?
