Discover Q4 2015 Categories Announced – Online Shopping Not There

Discover released their Q4 2015 bonus categories. This year it will include: Amazon, department stores, and clothing stores.

discover_q4_2015

These categories are almost identical to the Q3 2015 categories, except that the Q3 Home Improvement category is being replaced in Q4 with clothing stores.

Presumably any clothing store will be included here, including small time clothing shops which are coded as clothing; we’ll have to wait for more details to be released on this.

Remember also that many of us signed up for the double cashback offer which will get us a full 10% back on these categories.

The big hit here is that in all previous years, Q4 had online shopping included in the cashback category, a category which was very easy to max out on. This years categories a nice, but not quite as good as the online shopping option.

We wrote previously how it’s possible to make use of the Department Stores category (both Q3 & Q4) by purchasing gift cards or merchandise at Sears.com and going through the Discover portal for an extra 10% cashback along the way. The official end-date of the 10% offer at sears.com is August 31; the added portal cashback will only work for Q4 if they decide to extend the offer past that date. Let’s hope they do!

It’s prob bc of the double cash promotion going on now.. They’d have to be crazy to offer 10% back on everyones Amazon purchases during the holidays and BF/Cyber Monday.

They might scale back on options while this is going on. I’d almost rather have 5% back where its useful.

They still have Amazon.com as an option, just not online shopping in general.

I had seen that a couple of days ago in my account and I was so disappointed. However I had seen it coming, as this Holiday shopping description they had until now sounded very dubious. I hoped I would get 5% for my eBay purchases, but it’s not going to happen.

Couldn’t you just buy the GC from Kmart and then liquidate through Sears? That is assuming that Kmart is categorized as a Department store.

Kmart is probably a discount store, not a department store.

In fact, in my place, they allow GC to buy any other GC. That is hundred bucks outside of window.

Booo, yeah just noticed that myself Felix. Lucky I bought a nice, expensive bed from Sears before that got axed but wish it was still around.

I still see it in my account. I have only made a small trial gc reload so far, waiting to see if I get the 5%+10% but I haven’t received an e-mail confirming the Discover Deals cb yet and my statement cuts on the 17th. Anyone here with positive feedback?

I received confirmation yesterday of my additional 10% bonus from a Sears.com order.

I was able to see the Sears deal at least through Friday, 8/7. My purchase bonus is “on its way” as of yesterday.
