How To Ensure You’ll Receive Pre-Approved Offers

Opt Out Prescreen

Under the FCRA, you’re able to opt out of credit and insurance offers that aren’t initiated by you. If you’ve previously opted out, you’ll need to opt back in (you’re opted in by default). The website you need to use is: https://www.optoutprescreen.com. Click opt in and follow the prompts.

Chase

This is the big one at the moment because of the Chase Sapphire Reserve and in branch pre-approvals getting around the Chase 5/24 rule (F.A.Q for that found here). By default you’re privacy settings will be set up to receive promotion offers, but if you’ve changed any of your settings then you might need to do the following:

There is also some speculation that Chase does new pre-approvals every month on the 1st, although I don’t know how this would have worked with the Chase Sapphire Reserve – once we get to September 1st we’ll quickly see if there is any truth to this or not.

Update: If you receive an error for the above, make sure you’re logged out and then log back in.

Our Verdict

I’m not suggesting everybody should be opted in to receive these promotions, there are obvious privacy and environmental concerns. If you have opted out and want to opt back in, then this is how to do.
