Garuda Ends 90% Off Promotion Early

Garuda was offering what they described as the deal of the year by offering 90% off award flights if you booked by December 31st, 2016. That promotion has been ended early, it’s no longer appearing on the specials page and readers have reported that when they have called in they were told that the promotion was ended in the early hours of 12/24/2016. The direct link for the promotion is still active, but I imagine that will be taken down soon.

I’m not terribly surprised, if something is too good to be true it usually is. I didn’t jump on this deal because I thought the amount of effort involved was going to out weigh the benefit. Indonesia is a beautiful country with kind and generous people, but things generally don’t work like they should and this is a perfect example of this.

Big question a lot of people will have is, what happens to tickets already on hold? The answer to that? I have no idea. It’s going to be absolute mayhem if they aren’t honored as people have made points purchases or transferred points.
