Giftcards.com $500 Visa, Free Shipping Code, Removes G-Points

$500 Visa Gift Cards

For a short time, it was impossible to purchase $500 Visa gift cards online as both giftcards.com and Giftcardmall removed the $500 denomination and left $250 as the highest.

The good news is that now giftcards.com returned the $500 card. Yay!

Fees + Promo Code

  • The purchase fee per Visa gift card is $6.95.
  • The standard shipping option is $1.99 per Visa gift card.
  • Currently, there is a promo code to waive the shipping fee: CYBERMONDAY. Valid through 11/30.

Note that in the past they only allowed up to $1500 to be purchased using the $1.99 option; now they’re allowing up to $2500 to be purchased with the cost of $1.99 per card. (They calculate the $2500 after all fees and thus the max you can do in one order is 4 $500 cards and one $450 card.)

Removes G-Points from Visa and Discounted Gift Cards

We introduced G-Points some time ago; basically it’s their store loyalty points (a la eBay Bucks) which can be used toward future purchases. You get 1% back on all your purchases.

Initially, they were offering G-Points on Visa gift cards as we noted then in the newsletter, but they’ve now discontinued this. G-Points now only work on merchant gift card purchases.

Visa e-gift cards no longer earn G-Points either. (Visa e-gift cards have a max denomination of $250.)

Also note that Giftcards.com stopped selling discounted gift cards on their site; they do show the option but it redirects to sister-site Saveya. Thus, it’s no longer possible to earn G-Points on discounted gift cards either. Only full-price merchant gift cards earn G-Points.

Final Thoughts

The addition of the $500 card is definitely a positive developement. I’m especially optimistic about this sticking around since they made the conscious decision to return it.

We’ll still need promo codes to make the math work, but these come and go. Even with a code it’s $6.95 per card which isn’t cheap, but for an online option to help meet minimum spends it’s not bad.

These cards have been working to load Bluebird or Serve at Walmart and even come personalized with your name which can help some nervous Walmart cashiers let it slide.

One issue to be aware of is that giftcards.com is somewhat moody; they have banned many small-timers for literally no reason at all while other heavy-hitters are able to do multiple orders with no problem. I fall in the former category, unfortunately ???? .
