The Offer
Twitter reader @maddiesdaddy78 let me know about a promotion that Macerich malls are running. Basically all gift cards that are $100 or more in value will have their purchase fee waived.
@Drofcredit Macerich Malls no-fee Visa card promo running through 10/22. Max 5 cards (up to $500 per card) per day. pic.twitter.com/CzkVV68ZeY

The Fine Print
- You can purchase a maximum of five cards per day and each card can be loaded with $500 in funds.
- The normal purchase fee is $3.95 per card.
- Cards are issued by Metabank
Our Verdict
These cards won’t earn a category bonus, so really only make sense for meeting minimum spend requirements. Given you can do $2,500 per transaction (specifically stated in the terms & conditions) this should be an easy and cheap way to knock out most minimum spend requirements, as long as a Macerich Mall isn’t too far away and you’re able to easily unload the gift cards (preferably in more than one different way).
Went to macerate’s website. They are affiliated with GC mall. GC Mall’s VGC’s dont have pins. Could this be an issue?
This worked this evening at the flatirons mall near denver. Lady who sold them to me was really nice, and said that this was the first time they have done this for consumers at the mall. She said they do this a few times per year, and they notify people via snail mail. She said since I’m in their system now, I should get mail about new offers, and that they might do it again during the holidays or next June at the start of the summer.
this is exactly where my clerk got mine. I failed to mention she intially put 100 per caedbinto the computer. When i saidbi needed not 5×100 for a total of 500 but 5×500 for a total of 2500 all hell broke loose
I went to the same mall I always go to (about once every 2 weeks) to buy 5. The cashier (who I’ve never seen before) asked why I’m buying them and I said for my business. The fees the. rang up. I mentioned to promo waiving fees, and she said she needed “proof” of this, as there was no sign on her desk. I showed her this blog, and she then made a phone call. Whoever was on the other end approved it, but she had to get the blank cards without envelope from a pile inside the drawer. Have you guys experienced this?
I said i was buying for my business also, and I have received blank cards that she got out of safe. But they ended up inserting them in the stylish card holder with free envelope. I think they are trying to reuse the previously opened gift cards that had mistakenly wrong dollar amount on them
How do they keep track of the daily limit? Has anyone tried going first thing in the morning for $2.5 k and then back last thing at night for another $2.5k?
I just left the only mall in my area and they refused to sell 5 to me and 5 to my wife because our credit cards looked similar she had her boss ask me why i was buying them. I told them for holiday gifts then she requested i fill out information for the purchase and give a copy of my DL. I declined and left.
I bought $2500 in these gc on monday, on tuesday went back to same place and bought $3500 (7 x $500), . Today I went to whole different city, different mall (still owned by Macherich). Lady at the counter kept looking at the computer screen, and infromed me that she can’t sell any more gc to me. After that she asked me for name to confirm. They must have a picture of me or something. I got flagged for purchasing to many I guess. I should just let it go, right? Fly under radar.
Anyone else got similar experience. I am located in the Midwest.
Can you use an OVGC to purchase one of these? I’d like to get rid of my Vanilla since FD is in a part of town I’d like to avoid, whereas Walmart is on the way to work.
Two questions. I have Serve One Vip and a Serve Green card. Can these cards be loaded online at all? Also, Ive heard Macerich cards being charged as cash advance for some people, any info on this?
Where to buy in Scottsdale 101? I bought from kierland commons today. $2.5k
