The T&C’s don’t seem to specify a minimum amount required for the direct deposit. Will any amount do?

Does the bank pull Chex / ChexSystems Report for opening accounts? Somehow no info from DoC on this.
Any DP is appreciated.

They don’t pull Chex, only pulling EWS

If I recently had an application denied for a checking account in another bank due to EWS, would I likely also be denied by Huntington as well? If so, how long should I wait before applying?

are US permanent residents eligible to open this account or this is only for US citizens?

Straightforward bonus this year. I opened the Platinum Perks and did not get assessed a fee before closing. I think it was because I closed it before this months statement generated.

1/6/24: Opened Platinum Perks
1/11/24: 25,001 deposit from Ally
1/16/24: Withdrawal back to Ally
4/9/24: 600 bonus posted
4/10/24: Used Zelle to quickly transfer out remaining funds, then closed out via phone

There does not seem to be a chat option any longer, only phone.

Your first sentence indicates you’ve churned this bonus before. If so, what date did you last receive your previous bonus with Huntington?

I’m thinking about their rolling 12 month language and wondering if it’s truly enforced.

According to this DP the rolling 12 month language is not enforced.

Thank you! Hoping to see more, too. My dates will much more obviously not close to 12 months between bonus posts in case Huntington was deciding to just be lenient in this case… Since the terms say it’s at their discretion.

According to my tracking sheet I opened my last account on 11/27/22, bonus received on 1/1/23, then closed the account on 5/12/23. I usually like to wait a year after the bonus posts to be safe, so I’ll try this one again on 4/10/2025.

You had a zero balance in there for 2 months? Can you update if they waive fee for you?

I kept my initial $100 deposit in there. The last several times they have waived the fee and downgraded the account for myself and P2 without issue.

Hoping someone can help me here just trying to figure out timeline stuff.
Opened an account on 1/2. Received the disclosure via PDF including the $400 cash bonus addendum.

1/5: $500 direct deposit from USAA
1/26: $1,200 direct deposit from Chase

Have had several since too.
Still have not received the bonus. Should I wait until April to call Huntington?

You’re not even at the end of your 90 day qualification period so sit tight. They have an additional 14 days after that to pay, so 4/15 at the latest.

For Platinum Perks, do I need to keep the 25k in the checking account the entire time? Or can I deposit it, then transfer to a CD? I want to take advantage of their 5.05%, 7 month promo. But I don’t want to jeopardize the$600 bonus

mothman69
mothman69 (@guest_1819075)

There’s no requirement to keep $25k in the account other than to waive the monthly fee. It should be automatically waived the first 2 months, and then you can request a one-time waiver if you get hit with it the 3rd month. I would recommend keeping at least $26 in the account for that reason.

Erik Both P1 and P2 signed up for this $600 bonus last year:

P1 used the method detailed by mothman69, received bonus and monthly fee reversed.

P2 did something similar to your plan: (a) opened checking with $25 and deposited $25k; (b) opened a 14-month CD in branch by transferring $25k from checking; (c) received $600 checking bonus without issue.
