Plastiq Currently Charging 2% Fee For Mastercard – Pay Rent, Mortgage & Other Bills

The Offer

plastiq-fee

The Fine Print

  • Not all users are seeing the 2% rate, I’m unsure what causes some and not others to be targeted.

Our Verdict

I assume this is a deal they haven’t advertised yet, so I expect full details of the promotion to be out soon. Plastiq can be used to pay your rent/mortgage or other bills with a credit card. 2% will be breakeven or a loss for most people, but might be helpful for those trying to meet minimum spend requirements or a specific spending bonus.  Plastiq also have a referral program, you can read more about that here and also share your links (do not add your referrals in the comments of this post, they will be removed).

Got this in an email from Plastiq:

Use your American Express card to pay only a 2% Plastiq fee on any payment made by February 28, 2017.

Follow these easy steps:
1. Submit or schedule a payment for ANY bill.
2. Make sure the “Processing Date” is no later than
February 28, 2017.
3. Use an American Express card to make the payment.

I think it depends on whom you’re paying, but for rent it codes as Miscellaneous – REAL ESTATE AGENTS AND MANAGERS RENTALS and earns 3x.

10+ more business days from payment submit to payment posted. I’ll suggest Blue or Serve if you still have one

What credit cards that earn rewards do you use to load Serve to pay a bill? Unless you load bluebird with a paypal debit card, cash back is limited with bluebird and then there is paypal which are a hassle to deal with at least in my experience since they sometimes do not post cashback to your account.

Wells Fargo has amex cards that earn 1% and have a bonus. Propel world amex still earns 1%for us.

We can only use debit card to load Bluebird or Serve. I used PPBDC. I don’t know what plastiq sounds to other people these days, if it is for CC sign up bonus, it’s better to fund a bank account with CC rather than using it to pay off bills via plastiq. To me, (blue bird + Serve) x 4 family members = $80/month.

The main problem with plastiq is that it’s not as what it advertises – forgot the bill after you submit the payment. It still asks you to verify payment. They don’t deliver payment or payment does not always posted on time, so this is really YMMV if anyone still using plastiq to ONLY attempt to meet CC min. spending.

Paypal posts cash back by 10th of the current month for last month’s signature purchases. And loading into Bluebird and Serve are signature purchases.

Hasn’t this been the rate for a very, very long time? I’ve been paying the mortgage every month with the 2% rate (and certain times at the 1.75% rate).

It never reverted back for me. Been 2% ongoing. I’ve run a lot of mastercard gcs thru over last 3 months. It never changed from the 2% even after several people reported it had increased.

Since im not good with manufacture spend.
Paying rent with Plastic has become a regular thing for me to reach minimum spend.
Especially with business cards that have higher spend requirements.
P.s. All of us who applied for the AA Citi Platinum can use Plastic for the 2% fee since its a master card.
