Wow, even Starbucks is going revenue based.

as a barista, I’m happy for the change. this will eliminate complaints about the one star per transaction, and also the people that have their 6 drinks and 4 pastries rung up separately. lines may be shorter, and the people redeeming their rewards for crazy modified frappuccinos or 12 shot lattes will be reduced (which reduces wait time for everybody else)

Makes sense to me. I’m a regular customer and I’m OK with it too.

Damn Starbucks. Used to be able to get a free drink after 12 $2 coffees ($24 spend). Soon it will take $62.50 in spend to get 125 stars for a free drink. Even if you get their gc’s at 50% off it’s a big hit.

Yeah… If I can’t get decent value from the rewards I will likely up my average transaction value (maybe a weekly frappuccinno) but it will no longer be my daily coffee and maybe a cookie/bagel place. But around here there are better options for actual coffee. I can overlook that if I get outsized value from the rewards, but if it becomes essentially a 10 percent rebate (if redeeming for a venti frappuccinno) then my spend will go to way less and I will be in the store far less often.

Which is why Peets needs to offer some sort of incentive royalty rewards program more than ever!
