Direct Link (page 2)

  • Buy $300 in Mastercard gift cards from a Staples store and get a $15 Staples gift card via Staples Easy Rebate.

The Fine Print

  • Valid 10/2/16–10/8/16 (starts Sunday)
  • In store only
  • Limit 1 rebate per household

Our Verdict

Staples gift cards can currently be sold for 84.5% of face value, so the rebate more than covers the fees on the gift cards you purchase. This is obviously best for people that can easily unload Mastercard gift cards and have use for Staples gift cards (and have a card that earns at a high rate on office supply store purchases).

I read somewhere that using prepaid master card to buy money orders is harder than visa prepaid? Are they all debit and should be the same?

They are the same at least in the eyes of USPS. Also some walmarts accepts MGC better than VGC.

In my experience with MasterCard gift cards, it *might* try to run as credit by default where VGC almost always try to run as Debit first. So the trouble is getting to the PIN screen 🙂

This happened to me every time I tried to drain a MCGC at my local Walmarts. At the register, you have to quickly choose to change the card type. But as long as you get to the PIN screen, they work exactly the same.

Staples need to step up their game. At least make it $20 for staples gc like it used too. ODOM is killing staples with their offer, discount applies right away no need for rebate.

Im still waiting for my $15 visa and $15 staples gc from the last 2 promo.

True, but OD/OM doesn’t offer the deals as often as Staples. Buying 200s its still difficult to hit the full 5X for the year across all my cards, so having a deal here and there helps out.

Bigger thing is this is now the 2nd consecutive week that staples has not had .01 paper, what’s up with that?

The deal is nice and all but absolutely pales in comparison to the OD/OM visa deal!

Would love to see that deal one more time before 2016 is over with

I liquidated maybe 10 of these in the past through ebay about 5 months ago, I was selling them for $275 each, then ebay shut down selling visa gift cards, one of my cards was drained that I sold, had to contact the merchant, visa doesnt really help you out, Im all about using the ink for 5X points but even one fraud will cost you any points youve accumlated, not worth it anymore.

Caution: unload these MC gift card s soon as you can. It’s number one choice of scammers and they will drain your balance before you realize

This happened to me two months ago on one of these deals. It’s been a nightmare to get reimbursed. The investigation process takes 45-60 days. I’ve done a dozen other deals without incident though.

Seriously? I never bought one mastercard from staples so I dont know about it, and I don’t have ink card anyway, is that the problem of those mastercards or problem of staples?

It is a problem with US Bank cards. US Bank uses sequential card numbers. Easy to guess/steal.

Check the card to make sure that doesn’t have the back tab peeled off

Does not matter if back peeled off – just liquidate the same day; right after purchase, if possible.
