The Fine Print

  • Valid 12/6/15 – 12/12/15
  • Limit one per household

Our Verdict

Nice that they are allowing a variety of gift cards to trigger this offer; not nice that the offer is just for a $20 Staples gift card, versus the common offer of a $20 Visa gift card.

If you’re near a Staples store, it could be worth stopping in to rack up some points on the Chase INK card and let the $20 rebate help cover the purchase fees on the cards. $200 cards come with a $6.95 fee and $100 cards come with a $5.95 fee.

Do Visa Gift Cards purchased online work to trigger this rebate?

Is it necessary to purchase the cards in-store? Would the rebate apply to cards purchased on-line?

What makes you think there’s going to be a $20 VGC offer later this month? Do they normally run those specials in December or something?

I like that this offer is for all 3 card types. It’s especially useful for the large spend I intend to be making at a couple of restaurants who are in the Rewards Network dining programs. (Hold an office party or a get together at a participant for up to an additional 5x points on registered cards). By using an INK, that opens up a 10x possibility.

How do they enforce the one per household limit?

Address, phone number, email, all must be different or you will not get the rebate. That’s what family and friends are for

You can also have them sent to your favorite charities.

I like your thinking Charlie, yet how’s that gonna work if the f&f person you enter for the rebate doesn’t match the credit card you used to purchase the gift cards?

Matching the cc is totally irrelevant. I’ve had the rebate sent to my daughter and she’s too young to have any cards. 🙂

Enforcement is through the redemption process. Whether online or by mail, any duplication of address will not be eligible for the processing and distribution.
They are certainly not going to preclude you from making the purchase but your ability to receive the $20 Staples GC is restricted to EACH address. I’m sure many have a work address or other family members who won’t mind an extra piece of mail every couple of months.
