Another big week here at DoC, one of the most interest consumer credit news was the study that showed auto insurance premiums are affected by an individuals credit score. This just goes to show why it’s so important in understanding how credit scoring algorithms work, if you haven’t already read our general post on credit scores & then read our post on the FICO score.
There was also a lot of new and expiring checking offers. The First Niagara offer has unfortunately expired, we did warn you that this was going to happen though. There was a reason why this offer was ranked our #1 checking promo for the duration it was available. Chase stepped up and offered a $400 public coupon code for their checking & savings account, but we recommend going for the $500 offer they have instead.

This was a great week for the site as we added our first staff writer, Arielle! She also contributed two great posts last week, she gave us an excellent overview of how amex offers work and some profitable examples. She was also the first to blog about the $20 free giftcard from Staples. If you haven’t already we also recommend reading her post on how to get free gas.

I have been searching the site trying to find an answer to my question, but to no avail. I understand the difference between hard and soft pulls, but I don’t see any guidance about what your credit score needs to be in order to open a bonused checking account. Is this information available anywhere?
There is no score requirement
Thanks for the link back Will. I did a review of the Hilton Elara timeshare in Las Vegas a few months back.
