The Offer
Lots of people on Slickdeals are reporting an offer for 1800flowers popping up in the offers section of their Paypal account (found under the “Wallet” tab).
- Spend $15 get $15 off when paying with Paypal.
There are a bunch of things which can be completely free using this offer. Here, here and here.
Personally, I didn’t get the $15 off $15, but I did get $15 off $40 (found in the “Shop” tab).
My guess is that most people will have one of these offers or something similar.
The Fine Print
- The $15 off $15 deal is being reported as starting 4/29/15 and going until 6/30/15, meaning that it didn’t start yet.
- The $15 off $40 that I saw in my account goes from now through May 15.
- Offer only valid on merchandise fees, not on shipping, taxes, etc, if there is any.
- Discount will be reflected in your Paypal account, not at the time of order (in other words: have faith).
Our Verdict
1800flowers is the type of retailer that we constantly see offers for. What’s especially interesting here is the fact that Mother’s Day is coming up (May 10) and the fact that we reported a few days ago on an Amex Offer of $15 off $50 at 1800flowers.
If you would purchase, say, a $55 order at 1800flowers and the total would be $65 after all fees, you’d get the $15 discount with Paypal which would bring your total $50. Put the charge on your registered Amex card and since the total being charged on the Amex is $50 it will trigger the Amex Offer. Total cost would be $30 for the $65 order.
[UPDATE: This is a bad mistake. Charges running through Paypal won’t trigger the Amex offer since it wasn’t processed directly on the 1800flowers site. Wrote this post too quickly!]
Note that using the Paypal offer probably means that you can’t go through a portal, if you went through a portal it may negate the Paypal discount or vice versa.
I doubt the Paypal offer would work on the purchase of a gift card.
