1800-Flowers: 1750 Southwest Promo is Back, Stack with Amex Offer

Two deals were released today for 1800-flowers which can make for a real powerful combination: $15 off $50 with Amex and 1750 bonus Southwest points on a $29.99 order.

Amex $15 Off $50

  • Use an enrolled Amex card to get $15 off $50 at 1800flowers or 1800baskets

This offer can be found in your Amex login and is valid until July 17, 2016. Note that the terms allow us to split up the $50 into multiple charges.

1750 Southwest Miles

Direct Link

  • Spend $29.99 at 1800Flowers and get 1750 Southwest miles. Use promo code: RR94 at checkout.

This offer is valid until May 9, 2016. These promo miles will not count toward a Companion Pass, as  noted in the terms of the offer.

Updates: The promo code has been updated to: RRMD24. Also, it now only works a max of 5 times, and is valid May 2 until May 9.

Miscellaneous Notes

  • Frequentmiler notes that you can’t use a portal when using these Southwest promo codes – the portal will get clawed back.
  • Using a gift card on the purchase should be eligible for the 1750 Southwest promo, but, last time, some people were denied when doing so.
  • Use an Amex business card with Open benefits for an additional 5% back.
  • You can use up to two 1800flowers gift cards online per order.
  • 1800flowers only sells physical gift cards; keep that in mind if you want order gift cards to use for this promo as the Southwest promo ends on May 9. Another idea can be to buy 1800flowers gift cards are Raise, they come instantly and are currently selling at a 50% discount.

Final Thoughts

The best way to maximize these offers would be to buy a $50 gift card using the Amex Offer and portal, then turn around and use the gift card to buy $30 of stuff using the Southwest code. Or buy gift cards on Raise at 50% off with a similar result. You could theoretically end up paying just around $12.50 for 1750 Southwest miles + flowers.

However, there is a risk since – as noted – some people have gotten denied for using gift cards on the purchase. To play it safe, you can use the Amex offer directly on two $30 orders; this Amex offer allows splitting, and so long as the combined spend is $50 it will work to trigger the $15 credit. This way, you can safely pay $45 ($30 + $30 – $15) for 3500 Southwest miles plus the flowers or baskets.

As of right now, the promo is still going, only they changed the code. It’s now RR22. Also, I successfully applied the code while only paying for the passport for free shipping, which is conveniently the minimum amount to qualify for the SouthWest promo, $29.99. Then I applied it again when ordering flowers for my mom for Mother’s Day.

This is a great deal for something I was already going to purchase! Thank you, DoC!

RR22 only gives you 1000 points. I think there is a new one for 1750 but limited to 5 orders per customers

My life would be so much easier if I knew how to read. Haha the website says 1000 miles right next to the RR22 promo code. Thank you for the correction, Florian!

After using 3 of my AMEX cards to go for the $15 off $50 1800Flowers offer, and going through TopCashBack for the extra 20%, I noticed this in the offer terms…
“If American Express does not receive information that identifies your transaction as qualifying for the offer, you will not receive the statement credit. For example, your transaction will not qualify if it is not made directly with the merchant.”
This may explain why I have not yet received any “You’ve qualified for the offer!” emails after several hours. Is going through TopCashBack considered not ordering DIRECTLY with the merchant?
I may have just spent way more on flowers than I’d intended.

Has anyone been able to find anything to drop that ugly $14.99 shipping charge? I have tried playing around with ShopRunner but that has yet to yield any positive results.

I bought a Celebrations Passport back in Feb when they offered it for $20 instead of $30. I had read all the posts around the valentines day flower purchases and realized it was smart to buy the passport for future promotions. If you get the passport, you only have to sign in to get the free shipping benefit. There is no code needed.

I now realize what i did when i placed 6 orders in February. I bought $30 e-gift cards for $20 using Discover cashback on the Discover site. I checked the terms & conditions and there is no restriction when using a gift card and applying a code for miles.

I don’t recommend buying $30 gift cards from resellers. Those are usually originally from Groupon or Living Social and have many more restrictions than regular gift cards

Can I use code RR94 to get two orders rewards? or this code is used only once per southwest account?

It’s interesting that you mention the gift cards on Raise. I was waiting for this deal to use my Discover cash back. That’s $20 for $30 1800flowers. Right now, you can get $15.5 for $30 1800flowers. Looks like I should just cash out my Discover rewards as statement credit or something.

When you say that “you can use the Amex offer directly on two $30 orders”, does that mean that they are completely separate orders charged to the same Amex (which has the offer)? I want to order two $29.99 gifts to the same address, on the same day, but two separate orders, to get 3500 miles. Am I missing anything about the process? Sorry for a basic question, I have done this before several times, but I have never split them before.
