Update: Costco has sent out an e-mail to people who haven’t received the credit stating:
Thank you for your recent order with Costco.com.
We have been notified by Visa Checkout that your order did meet the eligibility requirements for the $50 statement credit. Due to the overwhelming response to this promotion, there has been a slight delay in processing the credits. We anticipate that you will be able to see your credit in your online statement no later than Thursday, May 31, 2018.
If you have additional questions, please reach out to Visa Checkout by phone at (855) 847-2032, visit Visa Checkout Support or contact us.
Looks like everybody should be getting the credit. Great work Costco!
Original post In March Costco & Visa Checkout ran a deal where you could receive a $50 credit for making a $250+ purchase. A lot of readers made purchases and the promotion continued to show as live, later Visa checkout stated that they ended the promotion early on 3/26/18 at 4:45PM PST due to popular demand and people that made purchases after this time would not have the deal honored (despite the deal still showing as live). Some readers are reporting that they have received the $50 credit now, I thought it would be useful to have a dedicated post where people could share data points. Please include the following information:
- Time you made your purchase
- If you have received the credit
- If you made any complaints about Costco/Visa checkout not honoring the deal
I’m hopeful that Visa Checkout & Costco will do the right thing and post the $50 credit for everybody who completed the $250 transaction before the promotion was actually pulled. We will discuss other options if that doesn’t end up being the case.
I ordered $250 worth of costco cash cards around 11PM CT on 3/26/18. I hadn’t received any $50 credits yet, so today I called Visa checkout and they said my order was after the promo ended, and they couldn’t do anything. Then they said it was a costco promo. I then live chatted two costco chat reps who both said the promo ended at 4:44PM on March 26th. They wouldn’t do anything for me. I then called Costco and the rep looked into things with me on hold and then confirmed it was placed around 11PM on the 26th and the promo ended at 4:44PM. After very briefly telling her I was upset that it had still been on the website, and asking her if there’s anything she could do, she agreed to manually credit my credit card back $50 since I did at least purchase it on that day. Refund should show up in 3-5 biz days.
Placed order on 3/26 around 8pm PST.
Chatted with Costco online yesterday and they said it was purchased after the cutoff time and $50 can’t be credited.
Chatted with them again today morning and they said i should call Visa.
Then initiated a 3rd chat todayand they said $50 will be credited.

I called Visa Checkout on 6/3/2018 to inquiry about the $50 statement credit. I provided my Visa Checkout e-mail, first and last name, last four digits of credit card, zip code, order number, order date, and order amount. I was placed on hold for ~20 minutes, so the Visa Checkout support team could verify my order. My order was placed on 3/26/2018 and shipped on or about 4/2/2018. After being on hold the agent told me that my order was eligible for the credit. She also said the promotion ended early and ended at 7:45 EST on 3/26/2018 and that my order was placed at 7:45 EST, thus meeting the promotion. Personally, I find it hard to believe that they can pin point that my order was placed exactly at 7:45 EST. I guess just be very nice and have all the information at your finger tips. I was given a case number and should receive an e-mail in 3-5 days. Hopefully Visa Checkout and Costco come through. In case you are wondering I purchased $250 in Costco Cash.
Costco is not honoring the $50 credit because my order was placed 30 minutes too late (5:15pm). Next move?
Update: They quickly offered a courtesy credit after I threatened to cancel my membership
Placed 6 orders all under the same membership number before the promotion ended, but using different visa cards. Received credit on 5 of the 6 so far. Two of the orders were for costco cash cards. I received 6 emails saying from Costco that says –We have been notified by Visa Checkout that your order did meet the eligibility requirements for the $50 statement credit. Credits should post by Thursday, May 31, 2018. I have not contacted Costco about it.
chatted the rep and they issue $50 out of costco pocket. Took like 2 mins of my time
I got my credit on 5/22 and still received a delay e-mail about the refund on 05/25, bought $250 cash cards at 5:15pm on 3/26.
second member bought cash card on 3/26 at 10pm, no credit, no e-mail about the delay. May need to chat with them about the status.
I never received an email. I placed my order on the 26th, I’m not sure when though…
I can’t seem to find my prior comment (only shows a limited set of comments on the mobile site) but, as an update, I contacted customer service via online chat. I was told that the refund could take a few more weeks. However, 20 minutes later I got an email from Costco with a manual $50 refund. I was well after the “cut-off” too.
Had to complain a bit but I eventually got my $50 credit. Spoke with two different Representatives and had to ask for a supervisor before they gave me the credit.
Rep1 said offer was removed at 4pm. Rep2 said offer was removed at 220pm. I countered with what Visa Checkout said on Twitter (445pm removal) and what Rep1 said (4pm removal). I guess she went and checked again and said it was removed at 444pm. I pointed out each time I get a different removal time. I ask for a supervisor.
They gave me the credit as a one time courtesy due to the miscommunication.
What if you didn’t get the email? Did they confirm that they would be giving the credit to everyone who placed an order on 3/26? The update to the post was confusing
I don’t think that everybody gets the credit (automatically). You need to contact Costco and plead your case if you ordered after 4:44 pm.
