Multiple rumors are coming out which point to a refresh of the Chase Ritz-Carlton card. The rumor has it that these changes will take effect on August 1, 2025. It’s likely that existing cardholders will keep the older card details for some time beyond August.
Changes:
- Annual fee to increasing from $450 to $695
- $200 renowned resort reservation credit
-
Three Ritz-Carlton bar vouchers
Unchanged:
- $300 airline incidental credit
- 85k annual FNC unchanged
- Unlimited priority pass for authorized user cards
- Marriott Gold Elite Status
- Car rental insurance and travel protections stay the same
Overall this sounds like a big negative change if we have all the details. It’s possible there are more benefits or coupons that we haven’t heard yet about. Again, at this point it’s a all just rumors.
Ritz has never raised the fee for existing cardholders. I’ve heard some still have $195 and plenty still have $395.
I’ve only had the RC for 7 months and hoping this is true. Chase needs to treat the RC card like Costco treat their $1.50 hotdog combo.
When I talked with the Chase rep, she said that my card will see the higher annual fee upon renewal. So, while we can all hope, my expectations have been set.
When is your renewal due?
Gotta recoup some of the $900 they lose each year on the checking/savings product even if they are in different books.
They are quite profitable on their consumer banking side.. just the margins aren’t at the level of their credit, equity and M&A consulting is at.
So many losers leave their money untouched in Chase Savings. Chase is making a killing for the last two years due to the delta between 7-day T-bills (4%) and 0.01% that they payout.
These changes come from the CFPB closing.
They are raising card fees and devaluing points where they couldn’t before.
While I am a supporter of the CFPB, the changes we are seeing are systematic. For example, the Amex Platinum annual fee increase is roughly 30 percent each refresh. The CSR refresh had been in the works since 2023. Same with the still unborn Citi Strata Elite.

I was not aware there are instances now that weren’t possible before.
They should increase the status perk from Gold to Platinum at this new price point.
Thank you Chase for making my decision easier now to close or PC!
Another Chase product “enhancement” ahead, Get out the lube and bend over!
Been bonvoyed enough. Keep me grandfathered into $450 AF or I am downgrading to the $0 AF Bold card. I am not paying $695. Chase, get rid of the Ritz card Priority Pass if you need to save a few bucks.
Man, Cap 1 must be salivating at increasing the AF at this point for the VX.
They will do the same once merger with Discover is progressing. They have little to lose by not increasing. This market is very much a hockey stick curve. Competition doesn’t necessarily support lower prices bc there aren’t a lot of competition in the premium space. They act more like a cartel or oligarchic market.
My annual fee just posted 4 days ago. One last ride, I suppose :/ been a keeper card for me since 2016
How long ago was your card anniversary? Mine is in May but I haven’t been charged the annual fee yet. Not sure if the increase will be based on the renewal date or when it posts, but I’m hoping mine posts this month to be safe til next year
i will keep it if the card has marriott platinum card benefit
so you can refer to a complex spreadsheet to see if you can get $5 off breakfast, or be told by the front desk sorry 4pm checkout is not available because short-staffed so it’s 12pm for you or for sending you to a room with a view straight into a parking garage at first only switching you when you complain? i’ve even heard people at the front desk complaining titanium is worthless.
doesn’t everyone here already live in a spreadsheet?
