Our Verdict
So the bigger bonuses require flights, with the biggest requiring a premium flight. Some interesting deals/methods you’ll want to consider are:
- American Airlines portal is currently offering a bonus of up to 4,000 miles
- You can get 12,000 miles through Lifelock relatively easily
- New dining users can get 1,000 miles after $25 in spend
- New BankDirect customers can get up to 22,000 miles for signing up
I think you’re going to struggle to hit the bigger requirements, but it might be worth considering if you already have a flight planned and want to try and hit the bigger tiers. Personally I’m filing this under ‘too much work’ but I might grab the extra 2,000 miles and do the LifeLock deal.

Does the “buy miles” option stack with the November promotion they’re running now?
The linked T&C say you can only buy 50k and bonus miles don’t count towards the partner miles.
Does this mean you have to do EACH task per category or is it one task OR the other per category?
when you purchased the 1$ barron subscription to get the 1k aadvantage miles do the miles post as asm shopping mall,on aadvantage activity page?

partners all earn 10 miles for every $1, so $25 donation earns you 5250 miles?
Effectively you could top off 5250 miles for $25 (buy at 21 miles per dollar)
5000 when you donate $25+ AND earn 25,000 other partner miles.
Is there a way to track partner miles accrued? I don’t see a tracker anywhere.
oh… that’s a do ALL of the items under each category, that’s not so good.
They offered bonuses through qualifying activities about 2 – 3 months ago. I did 3/5 but only 1/5 posted. Unlike the aadvantage eshopping web there was no way presented to report this problem to. Felt like a deception with no possibility to point out the missing miles.
Which ones did and did not post out of curiosity?
Possible to earn between 50 – 5,000 miles based on activities –
Tier 1: Shopping on aadvantage eshopping site, posted on site & AA promo
Tier 2: (250 miles) Already enrolled in dining program. Purchase did not work on AAdining or post for AA promo. Gave up, didn’t know how to pursue.
Tier 3: (1000 miles) Take a flight on AA. Mrs. and I did within the promo dates. Didn’t post!?
Did not do the other two tasks for higher tiers. Think one was rent a car. Bottom line only the shopping worked and I know the dining should have worked because I received a bonus there before. There’s no e-mail to report missing activity.
Did you e-mail AAdvantage customer service?
Not all of my qualifying activities posted either. It’s annoying.
Do we know if the lifelock bonus is churnable? I did it with united airlines and was wondering if I can churn it with American airlines
I’ve been scared off from trying, since the fine print says you’re not eligible to get a refund on the annual plan for “Repeat purchases of the same LifeLock offering that was previously refunded”
I feel like I would be more likely to do these deals if I wasn’t already swimming in AA miles. Such a beautiful train.
