Shopping portal Affinityy has unfortunately had to stop offering cash back on credit card approvals. Users that have applied for cards before the credit card links were removed will still receive their cash back as promised. This was obviously a nice additional bonus while it lasted and the site owner has done everything possible to keep the relationship going but unfortunately this was not possible. Keep in mind that Affinityy will continue to operate as a shopping portal, the only thing that is changing is that the credit card links have been removed.
Hey Doc, do you have a way of contacting them? My $50 from the Southwest Business card never credited and I should also be getting a $30 from my Barclays Arrival card once it’s approved. I emailed them at [email protected] but haven’t heard back.
I’ll pass this onto them. When did you apply?
Southwest Business was approved on 11/20. Barclay Arrival applied on 11/27 but app still pending since they need to verify my identity apparently.
Do you mind if I pass on your email to them?
Sure, no problem. Thanks for your help!
Any update on this? Never heard from them. Also I used you link to sign up, does a credit card application not count as a purchase for the welcome bonus?
William Charles Adding name which will hopefully trigger your alert
Passed on your e-mail just then, let me know how you get on
Just got a reply saying they have no record of my click, what a scam!
While you’re passing on to them, could you ask them if they’ve decided to ignore emails regarding cash back from their shopping portal not posting. Sent them screengrabs, which includes their recording of the shopping trip, and nada. Thanks DoC.
Will do
Do you mind if I pass on your email to them?
Does anyone know why they had to shut it down?
I was under the impression that most credit card affiliate programs forbade the use of incentives (such as sharing a portion of the commission). I wonder how Affinityy was able to do that? Maybe that’s why they had to shut it down?
I used them within the final day or two of when they had the links up, and my $30 cashback is pending correctly.
They better lower that $50 withdrawal limit if they want to stay in business at all.
+1. Pretty sure it’s a sinking ship. Their cashback stats aren’t competitive. Plus, they aren’t listed on Cashback Monitor last time I checked, so nobody knows about them other than DoC followers.
I am still ticked I never got credited with my Groupon purchase as my “first purchase”. Irrelevant now I suppose.
I wonder what happened. Seemed like a something which would benefit everybody.
its a shame, i really liked the idea of having a method for sharing credit card commissions (assuming they were taking a cut of the referrals too). in a dream world, doctor of credit would have a system in place so that readers could support the site by clicking through to credit card apps and DOC would share some of that commission back (ie. mutual benefit). i know DOC is opposed to commissions, but for some of the cards (ie. wells fargo propel, arrival+ etc) it would be the best option available to readers and could help the site as well. but i know that would be a lot of work to implement and outside the scope of the site.

Of course, in a truly free market, that would be allowed (e.g. a real estate agent can choose to receive a smaller commission, thereby effectively sharing the standard commission with their client as an incentive), but the credit card affiliate space is f’ed up with questionable rules (in my opinion).

And I, unfortunately, no longer am offering clicks to affinityy.
This. If they are willing to pull out that fast then how can you trust them not to cut corners elsewhere?
Think you’re both being extremely harsh, they are paying out all existing applications. This is clearly not by choice otherwise they would have kept the program going.
eh, i’m mostly kidding, no harm no foul
it’s just that the other portals have better rates
So why are they stopping it?
They aren’t, creditcards.com is ending the relationship.
Any reason as to why?
Don’t really want to go into specifics, other comments allude to the reason
I agree that Affinity seems like a shoddy operation. What other cash back site requires you to manually forward any purchase confirmation email from a click through to Amazon? Every other cashback site only requests these confirmation emails if there’s an issue tracking cashback. Either their business plan was half- baked or they never executed on it. I’m not surprised they are abruptly terminating a major feature of their website by ending cashback on credit card applications.
Whoa, I guess i hit the sweet spot. Went for 2 apps and just got the 2nd $30 credited to my account yesterday. Thanks Doc.
Dang. Thanks for checking in for us Doc
