AirBnB & British Airways Avios Partner – Earn 2 Avios Per $1 Spent

Update 7/25/20: Earning rate reduced from 3 Avios per $1 spent to 2 Avios per $1 spent. Hat tip to FM

AirBnB has partnered with British Airways Avios and you can now earn 3 Avios per $1 spent on AirBnB bookings. AirBnB also has partnerships with Delta & Qantas but the earning rate is one mile per $1 spent (although in the case of Qantas it’s per $1 AUD spent). It’ll be interesting to see if the Avios earn rate of 3 per $1 spent is permanent or an introductory offer.

Charles, hope you read this….

Just a heads up: In the event you are not aware, the Mexican congress last week has prepared a bill they want to pass that will ban Airbnb and other platforms like it throughout Mexico.

I was using Delta for Airbnb and my extra points never posted. And so far this year none of my spend has even posted on the points chart. Still shows zero. I stopped using the card and I’ve been using my Amex Green card for Airbnb and all thing travel related. Other than the airline credits for my plat card.

The Avios for two bookings (one stay is actually still upcoming) I made in June posted today. Nothing yet for my July bookings, but looks like it takes a couple weeks. So far so good. Prior to this partnership, I was using Delta, where nothing posted automatically since January. Luckily, their CS was pretty easy to deal with, and got the points credited manually. But going forward, looks I’ll be getting Avios (3 / $1 rather than 1 / $1 with Delta).

I tried earning Delta miles through AirBnB in the past. Never a single mile posted. I am wondering British Airways partnership will work any better.

Ya, I had one post out of an entire year on the road. Support gave me credit for another one when I emailed them. In my second year of full time travel and have given up on the portal.

Can’t find anything about this on the site(airbnb). It doesn’t look specific to the BA card, so you sign up on who’s site? BA site just redirects to airbnb site that mentions nothing about avios lol.

Went all the way through to a booking after clicking the redirect, saw nothing about Avios anywhere even on the final payment page.

If you use the link in the post above (which leads to the dedicated BA/ Airbnb page) and then use the link there to “book now”, the first page you’re taken to asks you for your BAEC number – that’s how you know you’re on the path to earning Avios.
