All other terms apply. Void where prohibited by law.
  • “Qualifying purchases” do not include returns, cancellations, shipping and handling, taxes, gift card or other cash equivalent purchases, and certain products that are not eligible for bonus miles.  Please see the Mileage Plan TM Shopping site for details on product eligibility and other restrictions. Please allow 8-10 weeks after the Bonus Period for bonus miles to post to your Mileage Plan TM  Shopping account.

Our Verdict

Basically an additional 2.5x miles per $1 spent if you spend exactly $200. As always make sure you compare to other portals using something like cashbackmonitor to ensure you’re getting a good deal. American Airlines also has the same deal but for only 400 miles instead of 500.

Meh. The merchants can reverse the points after the fact for no good reason, and Alaska won’t do a thing about it. I’m still fighting my Economist bonus clawback through Alaska shopping portal, with likely no postiive outcome, despite clear evidence of meeting requirements, and of course no outlet like CFPB. I’m done with all these portals. Buyer beware.

I had an issue with Alaska on miles for a purchase on eBags. At stake were 3500 or so miles. After a back and forth I sent the following and got the miles.

“Due to a lack of action on your part, I have prepared a formal complaint to be sent to the California Department of Justice Attorney General Office Public Inquiry Unit within the week. The complaint will outline the above issue and request consumer protection services as a resident of California. Of course, I will be submitting a detailed complaint to the Better Business Bureau as well.”

You need to find out the unit/division in your state that accepts consumer complaints against a business.
