Alaska Status Match Now Available Online – Match Until End Of 2019

Update: It’s now October 1st, so matching should get you status until the end of 2019.

Previously Alaska airlines has offered to match status with other airlines, but it required sending an e-mail. They now have a formal website that can be found at: https://www.alaskaairstatusmatch.com/. To receive a match you need to select the airline you have status with and then send proof of that status (e.g a screenshot of your account page). You can only get your status matched to Alaska once, so make sure you want to use your chance up now before submitting the documents.

According to a post by OMaaT last year if you request a match before the end of September 30th, 2018 then you will receive the status match until December 31st, 2018. Whereas if you wait until October 1st to request a status match then you will receive matched status until December 31st, 2019. Because of that I would wait a few weeks until October 1st before requesting a match. As always if you want to know what status you are likely to receive, I’d recommend using Status Matcher.

Now that October 1, 2019 has arrived – should the status match if submitted today provide status until December 2020? Thanks!

Just did the status match today through their website, however I received an email seconds later stating the status match would only be available through Dec 31 2018!

my Alaska miles are about to expire. Is there any way I can save them before they’re gone?

Just a heads up for status matching, you need to have miles actually flown and earned. I tried matching my AA Gold Status and they denied it since I had a low # of miles actually earned this year.

How long does it take for them to get back to you after submitting the request?

What do you mean that they will only match your status once? If I match now with United, does that mean in 3 years I won’t be able to rematch? Are they trying to prevent “status match churners”?

Thanks for the post DoC, wondering if you can help with my dilemma. I’m flying on October 1 on Alaska, redeemed the award with Flying Blue miles before they ended the partnership. I have an active Mileage Plan account but my reservation shows my Air France number since I booked through them. I am currently Southwest A-List earned through flights and miles in 2017. If I status match now, my guess is it gives me MVP through the end of the year. This would save me baggage fees on my flight on October 1st, however since my ticket is not linked to my Mileage Plan account (linked to AF account since I booked the award through Flying Blue) would they still honor it?

If not they won’t honor the status for this reservation, should I wait until October to status match to get MVP through 2019? Thanks!

Hey DoC, minor typo, you said December 2018 twice, second one should be 2019.

Thanks for all you do!
