[Expired] Amazon Prime Big Deal Days Sale Event – October 8th & 9th

Amazon will again be running their annual ‘Prime Big Deal Days’ for 2024 on October 8th and 9th.  (Links here and below contain our Amazon affiliate; thank you.) The past couple of years they began running one or two other big sale day events outside of their annual ‘Amazon Prime Day’ event which is held in July.

Prime Big Deal Days

Even more interesting than the actual sales that take place on these sales are the ancillary offers that often get renewed around the time of these events. For example, Shop With Points deals, various gift card deals, nice trial offers for Audible, Amazon Music Unlimited, Kindle Unlimited, Prime Video channels, etc.

Personally I like doing regular shopping on event days since I find most items are at the lower end of the price range. What I buy is usually not a ‘big deal’, but I find it easier to shop when most items are selling for good prices rather than monitoring prices for a few weeks until finding a price that feels like a good buy.

These events are also a good time to buy any sort of Amazon devices which always go on sale during these events. The Amazon Prime Visa (non-affiliate) will also be at an increased bonus of $150 for October 2 – October 31, though we’ve seen it even higher at $200 in the past.

I’ll add in whatever comes up in the coming weeks to the post below, and we’ll cover the bigger deals in dedicated posts. I’m not sure if we’ll do a sticky post with running deals on October 8th, let us know if you find that kind of post interesting or annoying.

Signed up for Prime to get a couple of things and then cancelled. Prime page showed a prime exclusive offer of $10 off $20+ for making a previous prime purchase. The terms said physical products only, but worked on a digital gift card. This also showed up and applied after I had already cancelled Prime, which was fully refunded. Did not stack with Discover points offer.

Chuck For whatever reason this post never showed up on the site during prime day for me… I was even refreshing/looking.

In any event, like most, prime day is the old black friday. 99.9% junk that isn’t really on sale.

There were a few gems though – Got a lego star destroyer for 30% off which is an excellent price for it. Also grabbed a 3in1 anker travel charger which was down to normal sale levels.

All of Amazon’s deal days—Prime Day, Big Deal Days, Black Friday—are mostly crap. You’ll find price-matched prices on Apple products close to, if not at their lowest prices, so that can be a win. Otherwise, it’s a bunch of crap you don’t need or want and items that have been marked up to be marked down. Keep your powder dry. Gone are the days of finding deals worth spending more than 5 minutes browsing. Source: Used to work in affiliate marketing.

A great deal for those in the market for an SSD is the SAMSUNG 990 SSD 2TB Internal Solid State Hard Drive for $139.99. It’s the heat sink version though. Combined with one of the Amex offers and it can be a little over $100 after tax, if applicable.

It’s within a few dollars of lowest price ever from a year ago according to Camel.

Mostly agree. I haev been tracking some items in my cart for several days. One such item went lower in price by $15 today, but the coupon attached them also dropped from $30 to $10 effectively increasing the price by $5. Its its all a game of cat and mouse…the price checkers will show this day being the lowest price but without taking the coupon info into consideration causing lots of people to pull the trigger.
Still if you add items to cart and diligently use your own tracking senses, somethings could turn out a bit cheaper. But you have to relay on your own senses than what gets posted somewhere else.
Another tip here is that when you have items in your cart, sometimes Amazon will show a small % off (2% or 5% is what I have seen) that is exclusive to you. So another reason to put items in your cart for a long time before buying them.

Good point about the coupons. Probably doesn’t show on camelcamelcamel

Same. Price changed on an item from $15 to $18.50 within a few minutes.

This is such common practice now. I’m not surprised at all. Thx for sharing!

I can imagine the Amazon affiliate links generate a lot of income for the site. No shade. I appreciate DoC and am glad they make money this way rather than shilling sub par credit card offers.

Loaded up on Meyers hand soap from the Chase/Gopuff $10 monthly credits deal in 2022/2023, enough soap to last through at least 2025

Man do I miss that deal. I have a ton of Dr. Bronner’s Lemongrass soap. I’ll be sad when that runs out.

I miss it too; 12 cards required a new spreadsheet to track each card each month.

the $19 TP-Link Tapo was $22 for the past month, until they jacked the price to $40 on 10/6 out of no where. I wonder why they would do that?
