Amazon is offering the following deal for new Prime Student signups:
- Get a free six month Prime Student trial
- Get $15 off an order of $40 or more when you use the promo code: COLLEGEOFFER
The six month trial is the standard Prime Student deal; for a limited time, they added this $15 offer with promo code. The $15 deal is for those signing up for a free trial of Prime Student or those who are signing up now for a paid $49 Prime Student membership (e.g. if you already used up your free Prime Student free trial and now, sometime later, you decide to pay for the Prime Student subscription).
The Fine Print
- Valid 9/1/17 – 9/28/17.
- After you have completed your Prime Student sign-up, select at least $40 in products (but not digital content) sold by Amazon.com or Amazon Digital Services LLC, not sold by a third-party seller or other Amazon entity (look for “sold by Amazon.com” or “sold by Amazon Digital Services LLC” on the product detail page), add items to shopping cart, use promo code “COLLEGEOFFER” at checkout, and $15 discount will be applied.
- As a Prime Student member , you receive FREE Two-Day Shipping on eligible purchases. You’ll also receive unlimited streaming of thousands of movies and TV shows through Prime Video, access to unlimited photo storage through Prime Photos, as well as Student-exclusive deals and discounts. Your Prime Student membership makes you eligible to receive 50% off Amazon Prime, $49/year, plus any applicable taxes, as long as you are a student up to total of 4 years (inclusive of your six month trial period) after which your Amazon Prime benefits will renew at the full price. Your Amazon Prime membership continues until cancelled. If you do not wish to continue your Amazon Prime membership, select ‘Do not renew’ from Your Account before your annual renew date.
- Offer only applies to customers who sign up for a Prime Student paid membership or Prime Student 6-month trial between September 1 and September 14, 2017.
*Promotional code only applies to products sold by Amazon.com or Amazon Digital Services LLC (look for “sold by Amazon.com” or “sold by Amazon Digital Services LLC” on the product detail page). Products sold by third-party sellers or other Amazon entities will not qualify for this offer, even if “fulfilled by Amazon.com” or “Prime Eligible.” - Promotional code does not apply to digital content or textbook rentals (including eTextbook rentals).
- Promotional code expires at 11:59 p.m. (PT) September 27, 2017.
- Offer limited to one per customer and account.
- Unless an Amazon Gift Card is the stated benefit of the promotion, promotional codes (including those placed directly in accounts) may not be redeemed for Amazon Gift Cards.
Our Verdict
Prime Student’s 6-month-free offer is pretty awesome on it’s own, and this $15 offer sweetens the deal. (Same deal was around back in April.) Check out our Guide to Saving Money on Amazon for money saving tips. We’ll add this deal to that guide.
I don’t know of any portal or offer which gives points or rewards for a Prime Student signup, big thanks if you decide to use our affiliate link for the signup.
Remember to notate your calendar for 6 months from now to decide whether to cancel the membership since after the six months free, it’ll automatically charge you $49 for a year. You can also change the setting in your account for Do Not Renew immediately after signup so that it won’t auto-charge you.
This code does not work and Amazon has investigated this as spam/scam. Has this worked for anyone? I spoke to several agents with Amazon and they have no clue what this is.
Just clicked on your link and seeing they extended the dates to “Between 9/1 and 9/28”.
Thanks for the $15 !
Thanks, updating post.
Can we stack it with AMAZON $25 off on $50 ??
You mean the MR offer? If that still works, I’m not sure if it’ll stack with the $15 off $40 code, it might.
What do you buy on amazon? Seems like walmart always has lower prices?
I’m a current Prime member and my card was just charged auto-renew dues on 8/30. My wife just went back to school. Is it too late for me to cancel and get a refund so she can sign up for this?
You can cancel and get prorated refund, if it is just few days they would refund entire amount.
I have done this couple of years ago to switch onto prime.
In fact you can sign up student account and then attach the current account to same id durin sign up, this way you preserve all your preferences.
Thanks for info!
Can you explain how I can attach my current Prime preferences to my wife’s upcoming student account?
If i have another .edu email is it a bad idea to create a new account for a new free trial?
Nope, can confirm it works
Is this for first-time users only? I think I’ve done a similar trial a few years ago, does that make me not eligible for this one?
You are still eligible for the 15 off 40, as the terms say “Between 9/1 and 9/14, sign up for a Prime Student paid membership OR Prime Student 6-month trial.”
Thanks!
