Amazon is offering $30 Kindle E-readers and $40 off Kindle Paperwhite E-readers when using at least 1 Membership Rewards point. Amazon also has steep discounts on Kindle’s, and the two deals stack.
Get $30 off a Kindle E-reader:
-
- The $80 reader with special offers is on sale for $50. The $30 discount brings down the cost to $30. For unknown reasons, Amazon is actually taking off $40 if you choose the Black color. This brings down the cost to just $9.99. Be sure to first activate the $40 coupon as well since that’s the one that’s working on the black version.
- The $100 reader without special offers is on sale for $62.50. The $30 discount brings down the cost to $32.49.
- Get $40 off a Kindle Paperwhite E-reader:
- The $120 paperwhite reader with special offers is on sale for $80. The $40 discount brings down the cost to $39.99.
- The $140 paperwhite reader without special offers is on sale for $100. The $40 discount brings down the cost to $59.99.
- The $190 paperwhite reader + free cellular with special offers is on sale for $150. The $40 discount brings down the cost to $109.99.
- The $210 paperwhite reader + free cellular without special offers is on sale for $170. The $40 discount brings down the cost to $129.99.
The Fine Print
- ‘Click to Activate‘ before using the offer. There are two separate Activate clicks, one for the $30 deal and one for the $40.
- You can use even 1 Membership Rewards point and get the discount.
- Limit one coupon code per order. (You can do more than one order.)
- Offer is available by invitation only.
- Offer applies only when purchase is made with an eligible American Express card, where Membership Rewards points are used for at least a portion of the purchase and the promotion code is applied at checkout. You’ll have to activate Shop with Points on your Amex card if you haven’t done that already.
Our Verdict
I believe the prices here meet or beat the best deals ever on Kindles. The $9.99 is especially a steal. If all works out, you can buy quite a few Kindle’s at an excellent price if that interests you. Looks like BeFrugal is paying 10% and Ebates 5% on Kindle devices which stacks nicely.

Not eligible on any accounts… no problem. Was just gonna get a Christmas present for someone… plenty of time for something else. John 3:16
Great post
Add me to the list of not eligible on any accounts. I hit the most recent Kindle and Kindle Fire deals pretty hard.
I wasn’t eligible either, and I didn’t hit them at all. Darn!
FYI, I was looking at a Circulon cookware set and applied $.01 worth of MR points and the $30 “AMEX discount” popped up. I placed the order and it went through no problem. Apparently the $30 MR promo works site-wide?
That’s an older offer. https://www.doctorofcredit.com/amazon-30-off-60-using-mr-points-works-gift-cards/
I assume you’ve never used it before?
I have no idea how I missed that link, but thank you! I am not eligible for the current deal, but am excited to find this one!
Weird, I had already used that deal before (twice). Maybe it refreshed again somehow. No go for me on the Kindle offer.
I was eligible an hour ago, but was ineligible just now…what are they doing..
They gave me $5 for slow shipping speed so.. Kindle for $5 – I’ll take it 😀
Nice!
Is it $5 credit for Amazon now ?
Yeah
I should get a MR card… Weeping here with just the SPG Biz.
“Thank you for your interest in this offer. Unfortunately you are not eligible.” LOL
Got the same response. Anyone know if there is an advertised limit of how often you can get the Amex MR discounts?
I’m not sure about that. But if you use same credit card for more than five times on the same deal in different account, it will cancel the order automaticaly.
Same meh
Ibotta is offering 3%… just a reminder that they are an additional alternative to other portals. If you’re new to Ibotta you can use Will or Chuck’s referral links to sign up… John 3:16
Got it. Thanks!
