Update 3/17/24: Negative change starting in April – that they are no longer allowing dining/gas/transit receipts, and now you can only upload highly specific receipts to get a bonus. They also made a change that now each receipt will earn a reward separately. (hat tip to Ryan Goldstein)
Update 11/1/20: Seems to be worth installing the app as some people have reported being accepted into the program after installing it (and no e-mail received so check your app periodically). Hat tip to reader Kris
Original Post:
Amazon has launched a new invite only program called ‘Amazon Shopper Panel’ where you can earn $10+ per month by scanning receipts and completing short surveys. The basic part of the program is that you submit ten or more receipts per month (on purchases made outside of Amazon.com) and you receive a $10 credit or donation to a charity of your choice. You can then earn additional rewards by completing surveys.
Most receipt uploading programs are not worth doing due to the low payouts, but this works out to be $1 per receipt uploaded if you upload 10. Unfortunately the program is invite only and there doesn’t seem to be any way to request an invite. You can download the app to join the wait list though.

Whoops…. I forgot to go trashcan diving in front of stores for receipts the past 10 months…. Missed out on $100.
Did you ever get neutered? 😀😀
think the hat tip goes to me but I don’t mind sharing the credit 😉
i hate this change and have left 1 star on the app stores. I encourage you to do the same to this corporate greed
To be fair, they aren’t required to give you anything for your receipts, and most people discard them without collecting a cent.
So now I have to buy 15 bolts (individually, of course) instead of 10 at Home Depot self checkout…sigh.
Scanned an entire months worth of reciepts and only ended up at about $7 on each of my three accounts…..
I guess my shopping trips will be split up into minimum 4 transactions 😂
Maybe that’s ultimately Amazon’s plan. They want their competition (eg WM, S&S, etc) to pay more and more in transaction fees and eventually go bankrupt. 😉
How did ya’ll get accepted to this? I downloaded the app and applied years ago but never got an invite
Magic? My earnings counter is at almost $600.
Sign up and wait. I got accepted in couple of days but I assume they’re not accepting new folks. Like
Gadget - Bank Bonus Geek 🔗 I’m at $587 since 2020.
Dec 2020 is when I joined, after
ieatdogfood tipped me off on the simplicity. (Sometimes it pays to have friends.) Sadly, this seems like a sinking ship, but a few years of good times is better than nothing. I won’t settle for Receipt Hog earnings, if it goes there.
Home Depot/Lowes x 70 cents still seems viable. P2 has some clothing purchases too.
I’m scanning a single receipt on 7 apps nowadays
What are the 7 apps that you use? I want to see if I am aware of them all.
Receipt Hog, Receipt Jar, Fetch , CoinOut, Pogo, Frisbee, Receipt Pal. On occasion I’ll also scan on one those receipt apps for certain products like Ibotta or Checkout51
I use all of those except for Pogo and Frisbee. I’ve never heard of either of those.
Which of the other apps are they most similar to? Do either of them offer a SUB or referral offer?
BTW, have you noticed that C51 has gotten a lot worse over the years? I still glance through their offers weekly but probably haven’t uploaded a receipt there in years.
So, Pogo is similar to Fetch or Coinout with fixed payment amount. Frisbee is dynamic payment amount based on value like Receipt Hog, Receipt Jar. Both have card / account link to earn points if they can read your transaction info from online banking. Both of them have referral bonus but no SUB (as far as I know of). If you decide to sign up, I added link to my profile name (first time I’ve done so)
Unfortunately, Frisbee is only for Apple users so that eliminates me.
It turns out that I had heard of Pogo as I have a reminder to look into it but I never got around to checking it out. What are the requirement(s) to earn the referral bonus and how much will I receive?
Its only 250 points for both currently according to the app. But the referred user must earn 5,000 points.
I don’t know what 250 points is equivalent to but it’s still better than 0 points! I’ll let you know if I decide to sign up.
I just stumbled upon one that’s Android-only, so I can’t tell you anything about it but you can check it out (there are surveys in addition to receipt-scanning, plus some other stuff): BrandBee.
I just added it to my long list of “unimportant” things to take care of. I’ll let you know if I ever get around to checking it out. 😉
BTW, do you really give access to those apps to your online banking? I don’t think that I would feel comfortable doing that for any apps.
For example, a couple of the receipt apps require access to my email in order to cash out. However, I would never consider giving them access to my main email address. 😉
I don’t give access to my main email address for any of the apps. I mainly only link accounts with OAuth with Plaid or non-important accounts.
I don’t do the card-linking aspect in any of the apps. I created an email address specifically for connecting to these apps, and I rarely (if ever) use it to earn anything from purchases–it’s just so there’s an email account connected/for extra weekly points in the apps that offer it. (As I recall, CoinOut required you to connect an email account to continue earning anything beyond a pittance.)
Yes, CoinOut was the one that I had in mind. IIRC, they made me link a couple of other accounts also (eg Target) in order to cash out.
I think that ReceiptPal required access to my Amazon account to cash out but that’s not nearly as bad as access to my email address.
That’s a smart idea to have an email address only for these apps. Like I told
Midnight, in the past, I just included my less used email addresses.
There’s also Copper, Merryfield, and makeena. Copper awards you points (creds) for most any receipt–a few are occasionally rejected, haven’t bothered to find out why or fight it when they are–while Merryfield and makeena are focused on buying better-for-you brands. Though, Merryfield will give you 1 point for each receipt (probably $0.01, don’t recall), up to 50 per week. (I’ve simply stuck with them because I joined back when it was 50 points per receipt.)
Copper sounds decent. Do any of the 3 that you mentioned have a referral offer?
I have three active account. Account 4 has been pending for years so I honestly think they just stopped accepting new people.
Devalued again boooooo
Chuck @william charles
starting tomorrow 6/1:
$0.70 for some stores, $0.10 for the rest
New negative change with one day notice.
$.70 for previous $1.00 receipts
$.10 for previous $.15 and $.25 receipts
$.10 is still more than most, if not all, other receipts apps give.
I do the shopper panel primarily for P3, who does not have a car and buys a lot of stuff on Amazon. I can probably scrape together enough $0.70 receipts to continue, but this is starting the reach the point of diminishing returns.
Which of these apps do you use: #2070458 ? From memory, only about half of those apps allow us to redeem for “cash”.
None of them. If you are asking about the “survey panels” I mentioned, those are specialized and ask about things like new software specifically for people in my professional field.
You earlier wrote “most other receipt apps pay in cash”. I don’t think that is correct. At best, about half of them do.
Is Amazon the only receipt app that you use? I’m just wondering if
Midnight and I are missing out on any diamonds in the rough!
BTW, I was not asking about the survey panels as you clearly wrote “part of several survey panels for licensed professionals” in your earlier comment. 😉
Sorry, got confused. Yes. Amazon is the only one I use. I assumed the others paid cash — but I stand corrected.
Cool. You made me log into the app and I had 2x 10 cent surveys. 🤑
Started at the bottom. Now we here. 🪦
I have been getting 5-10 surveys per month… 10-25 cents. P2 gets 1-2. Usually products that I would have no interest in & never about adult diapers and flea & tick spray. Bad algorithms.
