[Expired] Amazon will Donate 5% of your Purchases to Charity through November 2 with AmazonSmile

Deal has expired, view more Amazon deals here.

Those who use the AmazonSmile program always get .5% of their Amazon purchases donated to the charity of their choice. A lot of corporations have charity programs, but I like the way Amazon does it where you can dictate where the charity goes. You might have a charity close to your heart or you may find a local food kitchen which is on the AmazonSmile database as an option. All you have to do is shop at smile.amazon.com instead of amazon.com and your chosen charity gets .5% of all purchases.

To celebrate the milestone of reaching $100 million in AmazonSmile charity donations, Amazon announced today that they’ll be donating 10x the regular rate on AmazonSmile purchases through Friday, November 2nd. That’s a 5% donation in place of .5%.

Could amount to a nice size donation on larger purchases. If you want to support your favorite charity, register with Smile at smile.amazon.com and make purchases now over the next few days. If you’ve already registered with Smile, just make sure you add the “smile” to your URL before shopping. It’ll show clearly on each Amazon page whether the item is eligible for a donation. Most items are, but a few things like gift cards are not.

We wrote once about how AmazonSmile can even stack with a shopping portal or affiliate link (thanks again to all those who use our affiliate link for their Amazon purchases!). We also explained how to automate it with a browser extension so that your browser automatically reroutes to smile.amazon.com whenever you visit the site.

If you’re looking for a good charity I support the 101 Church via AmazonSmile they’re really good people and do a lot of outreach in the community.

Thanks for the heads up Doc!
