Odd question – It says “Flights within the U.S. (500+ miles)” but I see Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. Anyone booked a flight to Canada with these?

This used to be a great deal back before the widespread implementation of AA’s “web special” award fares.

“Web Special” fares have been a great way for AA to deny award space on its own metal to partner programs and similarly impacts one’s ability to redeem these “reduced mileage awards”. All this while still allowing AA to charge less, the same, or more miles than they would for a sAAver award.

Does the no fee Citi AA MileUp card qualify for these discounts?

Does this apply to Web Special fares? I’m seeing 12K round trips on routes like SFO-ASE, which would be a steal with 7.5K off

Nope. You can’t stack them.

How do they figure the mileage distance. Is it per segment, or by total distance traveled from point A to Point B?

The discount amount is not affected by the class of service (as the text above would indicate). You get the same amount discounted whether you use it for first class or main cabin. If you use it for first class, the percentage discounted will obviously be less.

I meant to vote down this selfish guy, but accidentally vote it up. They should definitely create a vote down button

Why not just go to places with less kids? I say this as someone who travels to a lot of places not so family vacation focused…

Are these available if departing from one of the listed airports, or do they have to be the destination?
