Update 2: Award availability should be fixed now
Update: American Airlines has now confirmed that this is a glitch and will be fixed overnight.
As first reported on Flyertalk and then by Dans Deals it appears that American Airlines has removed a large amount of nonstop saver awards inventory. This doesn’t seem to be affecting all routes, but some routes that previously had a large amount of saver space are now showing no saver space at all.
Why is AA’s so-called “glitch” always in their favor. Never shows the “glitch” to be in Frequent Flyer favor! Sabre system seems to be geared to AA’s favor ALWAYS!
I haven’t been able to find any saver AA operated, US to Europe since last Thursday.
Thanks for the timely post. Have been scratching my head with all the “no saver availability” for days! Just booked two saver award tickets. Thanks!
JFK-SFO/LAX First Saver has disappeared for seemly all dates. Anyone has any luck finding them?
FAKE NEWS! AA’s saver awards have disappeared for over a year. No matter what when and what I look at , I always find standard awards for 35,000 to 50,000 miles one way domestic non stop. If I want one way at 25,000 miles one way domestic, then it has to have endless connections. Sme thing with internaitonal awards and partner awards. 80,000 one way coach to europe or asia with endless connections or it will cost 200,000 one way non stop. It is a rip off scam
Over a year, you say? This actually started about 4-5 years ago. It’s only gotten worse with the passage of time, and the increasing contempt with which American Airlines heaps upon its FF members. It’s nothing new and it’s 100% intentional.
No airline in the world – NONE – works as hard and as long to find ways to fck over its customers.
I noticed this too, some direct flights within us that were 7.5k now cost 50k. But if you manage to find 2 legged flight through your destination it will be 12.5k. So skip second leg and you’ll be having direct award flight for 12.5k. PITA to find these, though and shame on aa for doing that
