American Express has added a new card benefit that shows how much carbon emissions your purchases are responsible for. Given that American Express only knows the merchant category code for most purchases and not the individual items purchased I find it hard to believe that this is accurate.
It’s also only really useful if you’re putting all of your purchases on an American Express card, although I guess that’s the point of the program. You can also contribute to carbon removal projects via carbon direct.
