[Expired] American Express Adds Dining Credit To Delta, Hilton & Marriott Personal Cards ($5-$20 Monthly Credit)

Update 9/17/21: Reader FrequentFlyingMermaid gives a tip that these offers might not show in one browser, but will show in another.

Update 9/15/21: Credits seem to be posting again properly.

Update 9/10/21: Multiple readers are reporting this offer has disappeared and credits aren’t posting properly. Hopefully just a temporary glitch as these credits were slated to be valid through December.

Earlier this year American Express announced that new temporary benefits would be added to the Delta, Hilton & Marriott cards. Those new benefits are now live with a monthly dining credit [US restaurants (including takeout and third-party delivery services)] of $5 to $20 added to personal cards. The amount the credit is for will depend on the card you have and are as follows:

  • Hilton Aspire, Delta Reserve, & Marriott Brilliant: $20 monthly credit
  • Delta Platinum: $15 monthly credit
  • Hilton Surpass, Delta Gold, Bonvoy: $10 monthly credit
  • No annual fee Hilton: $5 monthly credit

These credits are all good through December 31, 2021 and you need to add the offer to your card before you’re eligible. So basically 11 months to use these up. We are also seeing a similar benefit for business cards, but wireless instead of dining. To be eligible you must have been a cardholder prior to January 1, 2021.

All of my credits have posted, but some of them took quite a bit longer than others (over a month for November’s credit). As long as the charge posted before the new year, you should be fine.

Was just about to put both of my Hilton cards in my wallet as is monthly tradition. Sucks that this ended.

In October and November, when I top up Starbucks using this offer, I would receive emails saying that I used the AmEx offers. But on December 1 when I did it, I received no email. So seems that it’s broken again.

Update: Though I didn’t receive emails, I got credited on December 2. Nothing is broken for me for December.

I had a Nov 6 purchase and the credit appeared for me. Credit is showing with the same date, so I’m not sure exactly when it appeared.

Looking for DPs: I’ll be abroad next month and won’t be able to use my dining credits in-person. Is there anyway to use them remotely, like buying restaurant gift cards? Appreciate any input!

Has anyone who recently opened a new Amex card gotten the offer to show up? I got the Delta Gold in July but the dining credit offer has never appeared. I’ve had the Hilton for a while and added that offer in February. I’ve always gotten the $5 credit. The September one was a bit delayed and I never got the usual email.

I have checked it for you and see that credit not posted in the account, so I have issued that for you and you will see the credit in the account within 5 business days from now

I have Amex Hilton Aspire, Marriot Bonvoy Brilliant, and Hilton Honors (No AF). I made transactions at the beginning of this month for all 3 cards but none triggered the Amex offer. Hilton honors triggered the Amex offer after I made $5+ transactions 3 days ago. Over the chatting, the Amex rep mentioned that only the single transactions with $20+ would trigger the Amex dining offer. I am not sure he really knows the rule because the dining credit has been triggered for me in the past as long as the total expenditure on the restaurants exceeded the threshold even if there was no single transaction exceeded $20.

My spouse and myself both have a Hilton Aspire, Delta Reserve, and Marriott Bonvoy and reload my Starbucks account for $20 each with all of them. This month only the Aspire and Reserve triggered the Amex offer email and gave me the credit.

For some odd reason Marriott didn’t work on either P1 or P2 accounts.
