American Express Delta Gold – 90,000 Miles

Update 5/10/21: This offer and the 70,000 miles + $200 deal is still available.

The Offer

No direct link, shows up when doing a dummy award booking

  • American Express is offering a sign up bonus of 70,000 miles after $2,000 in spend within the first three months. You also get a 20,000 bonus miles after charging this flight’s taxes & fees to your new card

Card Details

  • Annual fee of $99 waived first year
  • Card earns at the following rates:
    • 2x miles per $1 spent on restaurants (including takeout and delivery), groceries and Delta purchases
    • 1x miles per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • $100 Delta Flight Credit when you spend $10,000 in purchases on your Card in a calendar year
  • First Checked Bag Free
  • 20% Back on In-flight Purchases
  • Receive Main Cabin 1 Priority Boarding on Delta flights

Our Verdict

There is also a 70,000 miles + $200 statement credit offer. This is a better offer for people that value Delta miles at more than 1¢ per point. The fine print does say when you pay the taxes & fees on this flight so you might actually need to make the award booking for the 20,000 bonus miles to post. I suspect that any Delta flight will trigger the offer, but you never know with American Express. We will add this to our list of the best credit card bonuses.

The only thing that I was offered was the business version. 70k with 2k spend and a $200 statement credit. Blah…

I think the $200 offer is for biz and 20k is for personal

I got an email today for a straight 80k after 2k spend. The af was waived for the first year and it expires 6/30. Funny enough I just opened a amex(mr earning) biz gold 90k offer maybe a week ago.

how do you get the 70k 200 and no af? I generated referral links from family using regular amex plat/gold and nothing worked.

When people say “pop-up” in reference to AMEX offers, what exactly does that mean? Judging by the use of sad face emojis or expletives, I’m guessing it’s not a good thing.

After you click submit on the application, a little window will pop up and say based on your history or whatever, you are not eligible for the bonus for this card.

I am getting the pop-up block due to not having enough miles too. Is anyone able to provide a referral link (not sure if this is an option or if it is only emailed). My SO also has AMEX cards but since she doesn’t have a Delta card, she can not refer me. Any way around this?

Only referral links that exist right now are for 70k miles + waived AF+ $200 on home furnishing :(. Would be glad to give you one for that though lol

I am seeing the same 90,000 point offer for the Amex Delta Gold card using a referral from P2 or just opening an incognito window. Therefore, no need to purchase a flight

Jordan (Professional MSer) lol, seems that u have a love-hate relationship with amex; put about $20k spend on existing accts may help remove the pop-up next time

Would it be better if I allocate the spending evenly across my cards. I have 17 Amex rn.

this offer has lifetime restriction; already having had that many accts / cards, lol, u may likely had this card before, unless a link with NLL is now available
