American Express Gift Cards – No Purchase Fee Or Shipping – Stack With AmEx Offer For $10 Off

The Offer

The Fine Print

Our Verdict

You can also get $10 back when you spend $200 on these gift cards with this public American Express offer. Shopping portals (Topcashback & Simply Best Coupons) are offering 1.5% cash back as well on denominations under $200, but the coupon code isn’t listed there so it might not work it should be showing now. If that works you’d be making $13 profit per card (plus credit card rewards), if it doesn’t you’d make a straight $10. Another option would be taking advantage of this shop at home promotion. Main problem is unloading American Express gift cards.

DP: TCB denied cashback on $1800 of AGC (as 9 x $200 cards across 4 orders) in March 2016. It tracked very quickly (~40mins) but posted as $0 two days later. Cases have been opened for 8 months, and remain unresolved.

PSJc1eAmawCjwfbdf, did you use a code? And if so, was that code available on TCB’s site?

Is there a way to convert AmEx Gift Cards (AGCs) into $500 VGCs online – i.e., is there somewhere where I can purchase a $500 VGC using 2.5 AGCs online? Otherwise, it doesn’t seem worth it to me…

I notice Simply Best Coupons specifically excludes promo codes whereas Topcashback specifically allows them, so maybe TCB’s a safer bet.

SAH doesn’t work. I bought a $200 Amex GC 2 hours ago. No notification of it tracking yet.

You’re right. It came through. Just got the email though it took several hours. Thx

Also there are several no purchase fee codes listed on SAH, with later expiration dates. Idk re the shipping fees with those though.

I guess the above is despite SAH saying no cash back when coupon code is used? So YMMV?

SAH is now showing CYBFEE16 as one of its Coupon Codes (POSSIBLE NO CLAWBACK). In theory, you should receive: $1 (.5% CB) + $5 (SAH Promotion) + $10 (Amex Offer) when you purchase the $200 AGC. In the end you should only pay $184. Remember the SAH offer is once per day via MST. Max total is 3X per promotional period. I just purchased from SAH and will report back if/when I get notification.

UPDATE! I just received notification from SAH regarding this AGC purchase. CB shows as $6 which includes the $5 for meeting the promotion. Use SAH first and use up this promotion up to three times! Remember once per day.

If you buy a $200 and a $50 gift card in the same order… do you get $10.00 + 0.5% from SAH? Do they consider the purchase as one order?

Should, but have not tried that….I like your thinking. I hit my limit of 3X….

Is SAH currently tracking for Amex gc? If so, does the personalized work or only the regular Amex gc?

Do these work as prepaid cards for split tender transactions at staples.com? I know the Amex gift cards from grocery stores do, at least the ones I’ve tried.

That was my thought exactly. Since many of us have Amex Offers for spending $100 at Staples- and the $200 gift cards cost the same as the $100s anyway, but you can’t split tender with 2 CCs to get 5x on Ink for the remaining spend- then being able to split tender with these Amex GCs would mean that you would be able to unload these for free, for as many cards as you have that have the Offer saved.

My hunch is that it WILL work, if the other Amex GCs work- since I would think that all AmEx GCs would be treated the same by the Staples checkout system.

Just to follow up- for anyone who goes this route, make sure to buy the AmEx GCs in $100 denominations, and not $200. Otherwise, the Staples system will automatically eat up the entire $200 value of the AmEx GC FIRST, and there will only be $6.95 charged to your AmEx CC. But if you use a $100 GC, the rest of the $106.95 will be charged to the AmEx CC and the Offer will be triggered.

Do you mean to split pay in store? I did not find I can do it online

Did you order 2 $100 Amex gc per order? If so, did they track to SAH or some other portal? Did you buy personalized or regular?

What if you buy a $300 Visa gc from Staples.com instead? Wouldn’t the $200 Amex gc + $106.95 on the Amex credit card work? It would cost $2 more but you wouldn’t have to worry about so many purchases.
