American Express Hilton Card Changes Terms To Credit Points Up To 12 Weeks After Billing Period

American Express has changed the speed at which points transfers occur; whereas previously points transferred over to your Hilton account at the statement close, the terms now allow them to push off the transfer until 12 weeks after statement close. The terms say further that points may be forfeited if account is cancelled at the time of fulfillment.

Aside from the nuisance of potentially waiting 12 weeks, singer15 points out that it’ll now be hard to close out the card when the annual fee becomes due. You’ll have to stop spending on the card months in advance so that you can receive all the points before cancelling the card.

Note: It’s not clear if they’ll actually change how they process this; hopefully it’s just the terms that have changed. I’m also not sure if this change is only on the Surpass card or the other Hilton card versions as well.

Hat tip again to singer15
