American Express Reducing Transfer Rate To Emirates To 5:4 (Currently 1:1)

American Express has updated the transfer page to Emirates to state:

Effective Sept. 16, 2025, the ratio for transferring Membership Rewards points to Emirates Skywards Miles will be changed from: ‘1 Membership Rewards point = 1 Skywards mile’ to ‘5 Membership Rewards points = 4 Skywards miles.

Citi will also reduce the transfer rate to 1:0.8 on 7/27. Chase paused transfers at one stage, so did BILT.

Devaluation is one thing, but isn’t it better than disappearance?

Chase is simply doing away with Emirates transfers:

DL, UA, AA, and Norse also fly nonstop (to Athens), but, yeah, EK was best. It’s a loss.

Next month Amex Travel rolls out “sit on 80% of an airline seat when you redeem Membership Rewards for free travel”. Then they’ll offer an Amex Rewards for $5 off of $500 in spend at MyFatOozesUnderTheArmRest.com

Synergy!
