American Express plans to roll out a new feature in the American Express mobile app allowing cardholders of eligible cards (Centurion/Platinum) to access Centurion lounges without the physical card. American Express plans to offer this starting sometime in June and it seems like this is a possibility due to the LoungeBuddy acquisition. When checking in using the app you’ll have 30 minutes from the mobile check in to actually access the lounge using the QR code generated.
Personally I don’t think that American Express has introduced this to help people who forget their physical card. I suspect it’s being done to help manage crowds and American Express will further restrict access, either by limiting the amount of guaranteed entries you get or shortening the window the lounge is accessible for before your flight.
Hat tip to TPG
Using the LoungeBuddy app or the American Express app? I know Amex bought LB.
Great, now there’s basically no reason for my Platinum card to leave the house.
Instead of thinking everything is a conspiracy, maybe it’s just the right time to let people use their phones, considering that everyone has access to Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay… and doesn’t need to carry their physical card around, anymore.
I think airports should put up a waiting line. You wait till some dude going in will take you in as the 2 free guests. You pay $10 to the airport. The amex dude gets free voucher for shopping. Everyone is happy.
It’s already only 3 hours on departure. Fuck is there to limit.
2 hours prior to departure. Then 1
who shows up 3 hours before a flight anyway. The limit doesn’t affect connections
Why do you feel it’s necessary to use such vulgar language?
It’s not vulgar. It’s just expressing a one’s emotions. Don’t be obnoxious
Your being obnoxious by being an idiot. No reason to curse. This isn’t reddit. This is a grown up forum. Aren’t you an adult?
I think you meant, “You’re,” — if we’re being that kind of particular.
Also, hypothetically, a “grown up forum” would be the precise type of forum that allowed any kind of language; as opposed to a youth forum.
Other adults have the right to communicate of their own volition, unless the rules of the forum dictate against the use of foul language.
I’d prefer other people would use their words wisely, but – being an adult – I couldn’t care less how anyone else comports themselves, so long as it’s not an affront directed at me.
Bitch, shut the fuck up. Before I smack you with my Sapphire Reserve
Mature, real mature.
